Scorcese had a lot of Oscar snubs but Goodfellas and his directing losing to Dances with Wolves and Kevin Costner’s directing is his biggest by far, IMO.

Why did Weinstein run a smear campaign against Sorvino? That feels like the most important part and I don't see it mentioned in the article or any of the attached articles. It's not surprising that there are producers who use their influence to keep certain actors out of their movies.

I once saw Sorvino in a restaurant in NYC, he's not a small man.

Paulie was pretty soft spoken in the film. He would let Tommy do the crazy shite and play “good cop” to people who came running to him to control Tommy.
The real Paulie, though? Apparently he was fricking Karen Hill and gave up Tommy to be whacked over the Billy Batts thing because Tommy had tried to rape Karen.

I also think the Sorvinos don't toe the liberal Hollywood line, and am sure that didn't help Mira.
