This is an email I received from Chauna Banks. I did leave out the emails from the original email she blasted out.

Top in caps is from her.

Bottom email from John Spain to all the council people.

ALL OF THESE ANSWERS CONFIRM WHY "THE BRIDGE CENTER" DOES NOT HAVE THE CAPACITY TO SOLVE MENTAL HEALTH IN EAST BATON ROUGE. I AM SURE IF THE CITIZENS OF THIS PARISH KNEW THAT THIS WAS A BRAF PROJECT, WOULD NOT SERVE CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND ADULTS, AND THEIR TAXES WILL TREAT MENTAL HEALTH PERSONS FROM OUTSIDE OF THE PARISH, THEN THEY WOULD NOT HAVE VOTED FAVORABLY UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES.

THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL SHOULD NOT PARTNER WITH A GROUP THAT HAS ABSOLUTELY ZERO EXPERIENCE IN MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. NOR SHOULD THE CITY CONTINUE TO DONATE MONEY ANMD RESOURCES THAT MAKE JOHN DAVIES AND JOHN SPAIN THE HIGHEST PAID FOUNDATION EXECUTIVES IN THE COUNTRY. CHECK OUT THE NYMEROUS "NON-PROFITS" LISTED UNDER THEIR NAMES WITH THE LA. SECRETARY OF STATE. THIS IS NOT HOW FOUNDATIONS SUPPOSE TO OPERATE.

THE CORE MISSION OF BRAF SHOULD BE TO BUILD FUNDS TO DISTRIBUTE FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENHANCING THE QUALITY OF A DIVERSE COMMUNITY . HOWEVER, BRAF MOSTLY TAKES FROM THE CITY OF BATON ROUGE. HE IS A LIST OF SOME OF THE "NON-PROFIT" THAT THEY CREATE UNDER THEIR OWN UMBRELLA, INSTEAD OF WORKING WITH GRASSROOT NON-PROFITS IN THE COMMUNITY: REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY, BIKESHARES, HEALTH DISTRICT, SHAW CENTER, WATER CAMPUS, THE LAKES, THE RAIL, LA. TECH PARK, ETC., WHERE IS THE PROOF THAT ANY OF THESE PROJECTS SAVED THE CITY MONEY OR ADDED TO THE CITY'S BOTTOM LINE.

BRAF HAS $600 MILLION IN REAL ESTATE AND OTHER ASSETS. RIGHT NOW, MY COMMUNITY CENTER HAS SO MANY NEEDS THAT THE CITY CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR, SO WHY GIVE MONEY TO BRAF WHEN THEY CAN'T HELP THE CITY MAKE THEIR PROJECTS A REALITY?

WHY WOULD THE CITY CONTINUE TO ADD TO THEIR WEALTH AND FURTHER DIVIDE THE COMMUNITY EQUITABLY?

Subject: Bridge Center

Dear Council Members,

In recent weeks a local group of pastors have raised questions about the funding and operations of the Bridge Center and shared their concerns with some of you and Mayor Broome. The Mayor convened a meeting last week to allow members of the Bridge Center board to respond to questions from the group. I am pleased to tell you that the meeting went well and the participants have agreed to continue meeting together. Please find attached a list of the questions and the responses from the Bridge Center leadership. The item is on your agenda for tomorrow’s meeting and representatives of the Bridge Center will be present to respond to any additional questions.

John S.

I know Spain is white, so it's all good.

Now, reverse this and let this be from a white Council member about COA...

This is 100% of the email from her with the caps and all.

How can I dumb down her email?

Translation - BRAF does things I don't fully understand, therefore it must be bad. If a project is not run by a crony or another recognized power master, then I will fight it. If I see what looks like a pot of money, I want it to control it. I talk and make assertions before I understand underlying facts, such as accounting.

Knowing nothing about the situation other than the OP, this seems to make a fair point.

Not a fan of Banks but she makes some fair points. Why does everyone assume BRAF is so benevolent? Shouldn’t more scrutiny be applied to where all the money goes?

Fair point? Her argument is that it will treat no one, read the sentence. This center was created to fix the lack of beds for mental health and remove the automatic trip to jail for some issues. There likely will be people from out of the parish at times. Overall it will make our community safer. It reads as if she wanted a walk-in clinic for anyone. The structure and purpose of this operation had been well discussed for years. Leading figures in the community - many with related professional expertise - help devise its mission. I'm sorry Chauna doesn't see a power broker she recognizes.

It is laughable to see her cast stones at this given her steadfast defense of CoA in front of obvious wrongdoing. "Equitable" is a code word for controlling money and creating fiefdoms.

Chuana wanting to out-retard the school board I see.

Whose the next good org they can disparage? BRAC and BRAF are now off the list.

Chauna honey when you release the financial records of every donor to you & every organization that you support & voted for to give taxpayer money to your pet projects...just maybe I'll believe you're sincere.
And release your personal tax forms & list of all donors, since your very nice living is paid for by our taxes we have the right to know.
Otherwise sit down-shut up & try actually working for living!
And stop yelling at us
BRAF needs to stand up to these useful idiots!
Or just let them continue to lie turning BR into a further s h I t hole.

Where was Banks before the tax vote?

I opposed the tax for some of the same reasons she listed. There is an agency already in place to provide mental health services in EBR Parish. We did not need another.

But Banks is making a power grab now. She sees an opportunity here and wants some of the action.

But she is right about BRAF

I just get some weird emails from her.
She helped me with a city parish issue on garbage service, so I get blast from her.
There a pdf she included just don’t know how to post it.

She does send some email blast out that you guys would not believe and I am not shocked. They are way out of the ballpark not worth posting on political side more OT lounge stuff.

Nothing to do here but watch just how they destroy a City.
Shake downs will be the order of the day and programs to help the community that never help.
Jobs are the only thing that can help any city and they just tried shaking down the largest employer anyone could ever hope to have.
These people are looking at their own bottom line and could care less about BR!

Her next step will probably be to suggest that TogetherBR would do a better job.

They compete in the private sector and operate as a charity. It's a complicated organization with a lot of influence.

How they got involved with this new mental health endeavor and went around the existing agency in charge of mental health would be an interesting story.

What's their end game? Why a new board?

Give BRAF's money to my groups so I can expand my power base. Those crackers don't pay enough to the "right" people.
