Because USAG and her coaches didn't think people could understand tumbling blocks and to a large degree, they were right.

Or, it's for attention.

They literally could just say she pulled a hammy or had fricking vertigo and it would not have been given this much attention.

It’s a fair point and now that I know she didn’t cost anyone a shot at competing bc they have alternates I feel bad about some of the things I said about her.

I think I took out a lot of my anger at the “woke brigade” on Simone without doing enough due diligence.
Good on you for admitting such.

Again, it's crazy that people are so out for blood on this. This lady was basically abandoned into foster care as a small child. She went on to play through immense injury and pain multiple times in her storied career (and during crunch time). She survived the horror show of Larry Nassar sexual abuse - and is, to my knowledge, the only active American gymnast to do so. She has earned way more than just the benefit of the doubt. She is an amazing American success story of talent, determination and grit.

And yet here the fat middleaged Tigerdroppings masses are to shite on her. Why no grace? Why no extension of the benefit of the doubt? I personally believe the spatial disorientation explanation, but even if that is cover for something else, who cares? For all we know, she was struck by an immense depression and panic attack having to do with her sexual abuse.

This was a CHILD that was horribly abused by an authority figure in the sport that was HER ENTIRE LIFE.

For all those on here claiming Christianity as their guiding light, yall sure are a bunch of judgmental fricking assholes. Does anyone on here have a daughter? Do you think you would urge them to just "power through" crippling trauma if it happened to strike them at a highly inopportune time?

This lady has shown more heart over her short life than almost any of you can imagine.

I will always want to hear the truth no matter what. I think to stop doing that is to lose some of our humanity

It’s lazy to lump her in with other spoiled or activist athletes if she doesn’t belong with them

I’m all ears: what exactly is the “truth” about Simone Biles? The NR piece above indicates that Biles withdrew from the Olympics because “it was clear she was suffering from aerial disorientation” based on a tenuous fact that an Olympic gymnast broke her back 30 years ago in Tokyo.

That is pure speculation and backstopping an excuse after the fact. Now, I certainly see no reason to pile on this young woman but by the same token I’ve seen nothing to make me believe she should be celebrated as a national hero simply because she withdraw from competition.

Is overcoming difficult life circumstances an Olympic Sport now? Then give her a gold medal.

She did, she called them the "twistys" which is gymnast slang for aerial disorientation. I understand her pulling out, but she should have known there would be blow back and requested privacy. The MSM is being ridiculous in praising her.

I’m not saying she’s a hero for not competing - I was expressing my regret at trashing her and assuming she was merely entitled and playing the victim card.
