Getting Real: Trump pulls nomination for former U.S. attorney for D.C. to Treasury post

President Trump is withdrawing his nomination for former U.S. attorney for D.C. Jessie Liu to serve as the Treasury Department's undersecretary for terrorism and financial crimes, a top position overseeing economic sanctions, according to two sources with direct knowledge.
The big picture: Liu was confirmed in September 2017 to lead the largest U.S. attorney's office in the country, overseeing a number of politically charged prosecutions that included the case against Trump associates Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort and other spinoffs from the Mueller investigation.
Liu stepped down from the U.S. attorney's office last month after Trump announced his intention to nominate her to the Treasury position in December 2019.
Liu was expected to stay in her position through her confirmation — with a hearing before the Senate Banking Committee scheduled for this Thursday — but was unexpectedly informed last month that Attorney General Bill Barr was replacing her with his close adviser Timothy Shea.
She was informed that Trump was pulling her nomination Tuesday afternoon.
Behind the scenes: This was "the president's call," according to a former administration official familiar with the situation. The decision, which was made today, has administration officials questioning the circumstances that led to Trump changing his mind — with the developments in the Roger Stone case today being the only new information they are aware of.
Four career prosecutors from the D.C. attorney's office withdrew from the Stone case after the Justice Department overruled them on a sentencing recommendation.
This story is breaking news. Please check back for updates.

Ohhhh, that's nasty.
Trump is definitely cleaning house and being a bit dirty about it.
I have zero problem with this.

Liu got pulled because senators were going to ask her why she gave a sweet heart deal to Wolfe in his leaking to the media case... Either he flipped and she can’t talk about it and it was going to torpedo her nomination or he did not and she was going to get lit up and would tank her nomination....
Either way she was toast and now out of DC.

Good. This is a BFD she was to start her confirmation today. She is as corrupt as all the lawyers resigning.

She was the head of the DC attorney's office and had been puportedly a big part of the cover-ups, and slow-moving things.

The executive branch should have this power, regardless of partisan affiliation. The Attorney General DoJ works for tPOTUS.

Then why did he nominate her in the first place?

Not sure. Probably listening to the wrong people. But he has now been Unchained. The blood letting has just begun.
Probably just another 4d move.

So she would leave her position as head prosecutor and then pulled the rug out from under her. It's called a bait and switch.
All of these dirty prosecutors that are resigning are the US Attorney's that will be prosecuting the swamp. Seems like things are progressing nicely.
ETA: They "would've" been prosecuting the swamp. Now they are OUT.

She was already DC attorney; she was transferred/reassigned. I am presuming more stuff came out with Stone and Flynn's case that he basically just now fired her the only way you can in DC...
Reassign them down the govt totem pole and then say nope.

Pure speculation on my part, but what better way to get her to go quietly? Or, maybe they (DOJ?) just now validated some bad intel on Liu? The timing seems to be suspect for the latter to be true. Its almost as if Trump wanted to kick her in the proverbal nuts for maximum effect.
Its begining to look like Trump has a lot of these moves up his sleeve, to be delivered like Chinese water torture right up to November. Look at all the carnage just over the past few days.

She has a lot of dirt on her hands . She was also the judge that buried the whole Aswan fiasco, that was a BIG deal.
I certainly hope they get burr and Warner those rats have protected the Intel agencies, and vice versa, for far too long.
