Much better conservative credentials than Kennedy, buy less electable. I'll vote for him if Graves and Hewitt stay out.

I don't usually vote for whoever leads in polls but whichever challenger is leading in the polls has my vote against JBE. They're going to need all the votes they can get and I really hope the state GOP can really around one main candidate to avoid vote-stealing candidates.

Dr. Abraham is a good, good man. Smart and upstanding. He will make a great governor.

I've heard nothing but good things about Abraham, but this is key. Lobbyists control the state and will keep the status quo at all costs. The only hope we have is to break their grip and the only shot at that is a self-funded person.

re: Get ready to Ralph...Abraham
He doesnt have mine, but it has to do with personal reasons more so than professional.

He seems to have done a good job so far, but certainly not "electable" in south Louisiana. I dont see him faring well with African American vote, at all, but I could be wrong. I dont know how much Talullah and Lake Providence like him, but that would be a good starting point in polls; although, the African Americans in that area are much more "used to" conservatives than SLA. Should be interesting. He does have a good team under him, and hes done much more than past congressman in the Fifth District (Rodney Alexander, mainly) to make a decent short track record to run off of. Like his predecessors in that district, he is one of the politicians that genuinely *seems* to have the best interest of his constituents in mind on most topics. He will fare well in NLA and majority Caucasian areas of SLA, but high density, especially high density AA, areas will cause him some trouble.

re: Get ready to Ralph...Abraham
The key to him winning will come down to Acadiana IMO. Republicans in Baton Rouge and New Orleans have heard of him and even more so they will not have the moral issues voting for Vitter this go round. Two very good candidates though for Louisiana which I am proud of.

JBE is bad, but he is no Andrew Gilum, Stacey Abrams, and even though they were senate races he is a better statewide Dem than Bredesen or Espy were.

Any republican in high density AA areas will have trouble. Thank you for sharing now please go back to the childrens table. Basically you said he is a good person, strong leader because he puts hires competent people to work for him, and unlike most politicians has the best interest of his constituents. Lol thanks so again why does he not have your vote then?

If he can get the industrial people on his side he’ll do fine. Needs to have a Donald Trump like approach to his campaign and try to get our economy rolling like it should be. Target the people that care about working, jobs, the economy, lowering taxes, and destroying a socialist ideaology in our economy.

The dems in NOLA are what won the election for JBE and we need a revolution type of campaign like we saw with Trump. I think Ralph is too nice to be like Trump, but maybe he can have a Reagan type of approach to this to unite people and to destroy the corrupt politicians in this state. That’s what we need. Our politicians are too corrupt and we need a Trump like guy to fix it who will destroy anyone in his way, Republican or Democrat

What won him the election was Jay Dardenne throwing Vitter under the bus after he lost. Not saying Vitter did not deserve it, but I know a lot of old many types in Baton Rouge and New Orleans that just did not go out and vote. Which in essence was a vote for Edwards.

I'm in south Louisiana and he gets my vote.

He ran TV ads that were broadcast out of his district, resulting in some name recognition.

re: Get ready to Ralph...Abraham
Even though he is from NE Louisiana he will do a lot better speaking to South LA voters and especially Catholics than previous candidates from his district definitely will not come off as the typical north la bible thumping baptist redneck, nothing wrong with that btw, but it can turn off voters in south la. Very sharp guy and truly tries to serve others, which in all honesty regardless of party is hard to find.

Edit: My biggest fear is some of the people he surrounds himself with will lead him the wrong direction when it comes to appealing to two groups he absolutely needs in the northshore staunch republican and wealthier voting bloc, and the less wealthy but more influential voting block in the bayou and acadiana republicans. Going to be a great race and LA can atleast be proud not to have to have 2 shitty candidates and simply running party vs. party.

Hmm, seems as though he's had his eye on Baton Rouge for a while then.

Not really. His district is really crazy in that a sizable chunk of it includes areas serviced by the Baton Rouge local tv stations.

I’m not attacking the mans character, but his voting record as a “conservative” in DC is questionable at best

I think he may do better with the AA community in the north Louisiana rural delta type areas. He's has done a lot of charitable medical work with that population much like Dr. Cassidy, so they may be more inclined to support him more than a typical GOP candidate. He will need to run up the margins in the north Louisiana parishes to offset the south Louisiana vote for anyone with a "D" behind their name segment of the population in EBR, Orleans, etc.

re: Get ready to Ralph...Abraham
Couple of things there that show to me even as a conservative he put Louisiana first and his district first, issues he wavered from the national conservative agenda that I am okay with.

1) Flood Insurance program
2) Subsidizing airline tickets
3) Highway bailout bill
4) remove John Boehner as speaker

Now strongly disagreed with his yes vote on allowing more federal control over local education. So is he the most hardcore tea-party type this board loves, no, is he MAGA and a good person that is in politics for the right reasons hell yes.

Seems like a typical establishment rhino. Doesn’t seem too much different from JBE tbh.
