There's a decent documentary about this called Dark Legacy. Puts HW on Dallas on the day of the shooting.

GHW Bush called his family from Tyler, Texas within 2 hours of the assassination to let them know he was in Tyler. Well, well Tyler is approximately 90 minutes from Dealy Plaza, the site of the CIA hit!!
