Since schools shut their doors in March, an early-warning system that monitors students’ mental health episodes has sent more than 3,100 alerts to district officials, raising alarms about suicidal thoughts, possible self-harm or cries for care. By December, 18 students had taken their own lives. The spate of student suicides in and around Las Vegas has pushed the Clark County district, the nation’s fifth largest, toward bringing students back as quickly as possible. This month, the school board gave the green light to phase in the return of some elementary school grades and groups of struggling students even as greater Las Vegas continues to post huge numbers of coronavirus cases and deaths. Superintendents across the nation are weighing the benefit of in-person education against the cost of public health, watching teachers and staff become sick and, in some cases, die, but also seeing the psychological and academic toll that school closings are having on children nearly a year in. The risk of student suicides has quietly stirred many district leaders, leading some, like the state superintendent in Arizona, to cite that fear in public pleas to help mitigate the virus’s spread. In Clark County, it forced the superintendent’s hand.

Who didn’t see this coming?

Good job, progs.

I have seen how the covid response charade has affected my behavior, demeanor, spirit, etc. over the last year and I haven’t missed a day of work.

Now do the same for a 13 year old who hasn’t gotten to go to school, play sports, or interact with friends for a year.

They have completed fricked the mental health of a lot of these kids. Some of them maybe forever.

School closing related suicides have killed more kids under 18 than Covid.

It has nothing to do with “soft.”

I've seen "community" and while I agree on the fed BS through internet part, I'll sit here alone rather than be a part of Corrupt Joe and the Whores community.

I am the Lone Wolf that scares the shite out of community. I am not a part of community, will not be a part of it, want no part of it.

Community sucks!

Community is the reason for the lockdown/shutdown. Community breeds a bunch of sponges and leeches and Nancy boys. Community is what brought on PC speech and activities.

Keep your community to yourself, it's unfit for any decent human being.

They have blood on their hands. Every child's suicide, every family member abused during the pandemic, and every covid victim that died because they were not treated early with HCQ. They bear that responsibility for every single one.

Now ask Vegas how many students died from the currvid in that same time frame...

More than likely zero.

Was it worth it? The entire world should be sanctioning China back to the stone age right now, but instead, Biden is shuffling around with a blank stare on his face and Xi's cock in his mouth.

There’s community to build you up and encourage you wherever you are. I get what you’re saying, but we are created for relationships. To touch. To speak face to face.

My wife's high school best friend is a typical city lib. They have been hardcore quarantined since March with a three year old with zero interaction with other children or humans besides her parents and the nanny. She called my wife all upset the other night because the nanny told her she thinks she might be autistic due to some social cues she's seen.

I work with autistic kids and have met this kid before they went full shelter mode. She's not autistic at all but taking a full year of socialization away during prime development has messed her up to where apparently she acts autistic now. Poor kid.

Yeah, no shite. We are very social creatures and all this is against our nature. We’re all sadly going insane in one capacity or another, and our elites don’t give a damn.

Even worse are the teacher’s unions. They are knowingly harming the kids and just want to hike their feet up on the couch, do absolutely nothing, and relax with the same pay while their students suffer. The next Republican President must put destroying the teacher’s unions as a top priority. The teacher’s unions are so bad that they make Bill De Blasio seem reasonable.
