And we call each other to discuss the days events, problems, etc and their SO gets pissed off because we talk about work after hours.

They are outside salesmen, etc and we all can literally talk about the days events outside of office hours and the SO’s get pissed as frick when this happens.

It’s not everyday but a couple of times/week.

They call me or I call them - it’s a 2 way streak and the SO’s make a big deal about it because it is after hours. It’s because we care about the company, the money we all make and our jobs.

Anybody ever had these issues?

I just got my arse chewed out by an employee calling me on car phone after dinner with his SO asking what time a meeting was tomorrow and she fricking unloaded on me. It was brutal

I guess my point is that America has changed. Soccer Moms are turning into Liberals. They don’t care about work, etc.

How old are you if you dont mind me asking?

I would never willingly discuss work like this after hours unless over dinner with a boss or something

I have worked with my friends for 18 years, and it is their family company. When we get together for family parties or holidays, we have to make a conscious effort to talk about stuff other than work. The wives got sick of it many years ago

It’s a business we all own and operate. I’m 42

We are all great friends including their wives and mine. We are all just trying to get shite done. It’s our livelihood. This is how we make a living and their are tons of moving parts to make it happen

By the way, the SO who bitched my arse out tonight is a fricking stay at home mom.

Spouses do not want their down time/family time interrupted by random work shite that can wait for tomorrow. You guys sound like teen girls who feel the need to constantly text each other.

Kind of OT, but you reminded me of a funny prank we pulled. We must have been 20, coworker, I and a few buddies (they also knew the guy as we all went to HS together) were sitting around drunk at about 2 AM. He had the first version of the Droid, which had an app that you could change the caller ID to any number you wanted along with a voice changer. We put the number of our boss so it would register on his phone as his contact name. Buddy did a cough, cough, hey bubs and odd words our boss would use and told him something like "I'm sick, can you come and open tomorrow at 6:30 AM?" He said something like "sure, are you okay?" Let him sit on it for about 20 minutes later, then called him and told him the truth. Was hilarious. Dude bit hard on that one.

I am in sales and I always tell my wife this..... I don’t have office hours, I have make money time. She likes the money, I need the time to make it. Money doesn’t have an 8-5 window, you get it when you can.

Then bluntly tell her if she wants to remain a stay at home mom to STFU and go make a sammich, and then tell her husband to keep a muzzle on his bitch or you will not be so nice next time.

I'm not going to listen to an estrogen fueled meltdown from a coworkers wife. I'd hang the phone up.

No shite, her husband is not the OP's friend and has zero respect for him to allow that to happen or the OP is greatly exaggerating.

Why haven't you fired him?

I would never call a manager after hours and if I did and my wife screamed at him I'd expect to be fired.

Showing disrespect to management is a fireable offense. Letting your spouse do it is a no brainer termination.
