Friend of alleged Dayton shooter to face federal charges

A friend of the man who police say opened fire in a Dayton, Ohio entertainment district, killing nine people, will face federal charges, multiple news outlets reported Monday.
Ethan Kollie “indicated he purchased body armor and a firearm accessory for Betts earlier this year," referring to 24-year-old Connor Betts, a charging document obtained by The Associated Press reads.
According to a statement about the presentation of the charges, which are set to be unsealed this afternoon, Kollie allegedly lied on federal firearms forms. LINK

For body armor? I bought a couple of vests at a gun show twenty years ago and I don't think they even asked for an ID. But again, twenty years ago.

I’m not sure he was part of a conspiracy that he understood. His FB page is pretty innocuous. Just looks like a lost mid 20s guy trying to find a place in the world.

Not to make light of any situation this horrific, but would it surprise anyone if the funds to make this purchase are tied into ANTIFA?

I'm not aware that any fed form is required to purchase these. They might have got the red arse at him for buying for the psycho and dug into his fed firearms forms for other purchases.

The friend purchased two firearms last year. Neither were used by the Dayton shooter, but he admitted him and the shooter used acid and marijuana several days a week.
So, they charged him with lying on the nics questionaire.
Him buying the magazines, body armor and upper receiver for the ar weren't an illegal straw purchase.

I'm kinda glad this is going down. Way beyond time the sham known as question 11e on the 4473 gets exposed and removed.
