Fox News Parody of itself or are folks serious afraid of the metric system?

The Metric System is not a Conspiracy
The Metric System is not a Conspiracy
quote:
For Panero, I don’t know him well enough to determine if this is all also just a farce or if he is serious. His article can easily be read as humorous satire. Maybe he is trolling Carlson. Maybe they are both, with a wink and a nod, trolling his audience of rubes. This to me is the real problem. News is now performance art, and everything is, on some level, a satire (or can be claimed to be so). There is no shared reality, no intellectual honesty, no standards.
Is this bit by Carlson and Panero serious, or just make believe, a way to rile up the rubes with the equivalent of click-bait? We don’t really know, and I think that’s the point.

I will also say at this point that I don’t think Carlson is worth responding to. He, in my opinion, is just a highly paid troll catering to an extreme political view
The author sounds like a huge beta like yourself

Why should anyone give a frick what this phaggot says:
He has a doctorate from Oxford yet is still too fricking stupid to recognize satire?
You are off to a great start for PT Dumb frick of the Week Bucky.

Another "solution" in search of a problem.
Why bother?

I learned and use both systems. It's not a big deal to me. However I find the imperial system easier to use in the field and the SI system easier to use on paper.

I am not entirely sure NASA uses imperial units .

Typically you learn both systems in Engineering school. Most engineers will say that they prefer the metric system.
Learning the imperial system doesn't make a person smarter. All it does it create more busy work.

Metric system is much more user friendly, especially for calculations involving mass.
Mass is a fundamental unit in metric (kilogram), where as it is a derived unit in imperial (lb-mass, slug, whatever), which means you have to convert the units...sometimes. It's a PITA.

You know that we use BOTH, interchangeably, All the time right?
As in, not only DO we use the Metric system, but we easily convert to another measurement system with ease.
Yeah, reaaaal backwards.

Metric is superior in every way and it is a shame the long term transition in the US was abandoned in the 80s.
It would be pretty standard now.
This exact discussion takes place from time to time on some woodworking forums I frequent and the responses range from "yes we need to move to metric asap" to "this is america!".
As far as dates YYYY-MM-DD is far superior to either of the options listed by OP.

but for measuring length, imperial is superior. Every unit can be divided by 1/4, 1/3 and 1/2. It's actually pretty dam smart.

Not sure that arbitrary factor-ability really trumps the metric system's organization by power of 10.
It's great that imperial length units divide evenly into 2,3, and 4, but what if I need to divide an imperial unit by 7?
Meh, it's a silly argument. One system is not "better" than the other, they're just different and people will prefer one or the other depending on what they're used to and what they're trying to measure/calculate.

If foreigners are so much into the metric system why do the Brits say 'That woman weighs 3 stones.'
