Former 21st Century Fox CEO James Murdoch has resigned from the board of News Corp., the parent company of the Wall Street Journal.

In a letter of resignation filed Friday afternoon, Murdoch wrote: "My resignation is due to disagreements over certain editorial content published by the Company’s news outlets and certain other strategic decisions."

James Murdoch had been on News Corp.'s board of directors since 2013.

News Corp. is one of two media companies controlled by James' father Rupert Murdoch and the Murdoch family. The other is Fox Corp., the parent company of Fox News and the Fox broadcast network, which was created after 21st Century Fox sold its entertainment assets to The Walt Disney Company.

Murdoch stepped down as Fox CEO following the sale, with his brother Lachlan Murdoch becoming CEO, and father Rupert becoming co-chairman. News Corp., which owns the Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, New York Post, News U.K. and newspaper and TV assets in Australia, is run by CEO Robert Thomson.

I find it hard to believe the CEO has no control over editorial content and strategic decisions. What’s the deal here?

That’s what I can only infer. Makes you wonder what in the world James actually did at work everyday.

James is Prog. His brother Lachlan is a centrist. Father Rupert is a right leaning populist with strong beliefs and love for America.

Rupert chose Lachlan to take over the lead at Fox. Lachlan wants to remake Fox as a centrist, objective news company. He’s not a fan of Trump either. He has been the driving force behind the shift we’ve all noticed at Fox. Rupert likes Trump but supports his son Lachlan’s long term strategic move.

James is leftist Prog and he and the family have been working for months on his exit from the company. An agreement gives him $2B and his departure. He has said that he plans to invest heavily in competing media and pushing political investment in his favorite passionate cause, climate change.

They say Succession is based on Murdoch, and it looks like Rupert is following some of the plot lines from the previous season.

Sadly, Ryan probably isn’t going anywhere.

Ryan is Lachlan’s work and Lachlan is largely calling the shots now on a day to day basis. The Don, Rupert, is semi retired.

Get Tucked and Mr. Ticktock says hold my beer.

They have been taking heat from MAGA and thousands of viewers with the new leftward direction.
I believe that's having an affect on FOX News brass, and they are worried for the long term.

James is a democrat, he donated to Buttigieg. Poppy's wife Jerry Hall donated to Biden. $500.

LINK

Poppy donated to L. Graham and is republican.

Credit where credit is due, though; when the cancel culture people came for Tucker Carlson, Lachlan has thus far backed Carlson all the way. The producers that do the Modern Family show had a meeting with Lachlan years ago, because they wanted to rant about how "Fox News was destroying America", and they thought they'd get a sympathetic ear from Lachlan. They were pissed when he told them "Most news shows are liberal leaning. You can live with a few dissenting conservative voices". The producer... Steve Levitan was his name.... supposedly blew his stack at that.

From Daily Beast:

The move comes a little over six months after Rupert Murdoch’s eldest son issued a stunning rebuke of his family’s media empire and its promotion of climate-change skeptics during Australia’s bushfire crisis.

“Kathryn and James’ views on climate are well established and their frustration with some of the News Corp and Fox coverage of the topic is also well known,” a spokesperson for the couple exclusively told The Daily Beast at the time as wildfires raged in Australia.

“They are particularly disappointed with the ongoing denial among the news outlets in Australia given obvious evidence to the contrary.”

In contrast, James’ brother Lachlan, News Corp’s co-chairman, personally okayed Tucker Carlson’s recent non-apology for racist rants penned by his top writer.
