China is Losing the Trade War in Nearly Every Way

quote:

The arrest of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou in Canada last month for breaking U.S. sanctions law, followed by the firing of Huawei sales executive Wang Weijing in Poland last week shows China can be a bad actor, exactly as Washington believes. The Poland story centers around spying allegations, where Wang allegedly sought trade secrets from the government. Huawei’s latest bad headlines show how China tech companies may have risen to prominence by copying foreign technologies in joint venture deals or through white-collar criminal actions such as intellectual property theft and corporate espionage. Huawei is one of China’s most important, private tech firms. It rivals Cisco Systems worldwide.

Thanks in part to Huawei, China is getting beat on the public relations front in the trade war.

Early in the trade war, China thought it get the Europeans as allies. They hate Trump, too. China failed to woo the EU.

The Shanghai Composite is down around 30% in the last 12 months. Only Turkey is doing worse.

It was always this easy, folks.

“The Chinese trade numbers released today got all the alarm bells ringing,” says Naeem Aslam, chief market strategist for Think Markets in London and a Forbes contributor. “If you need any evidence how the trade spat is impacting a country’s economic health then look no further than China trade. The lower export number means lower jobs, which means another direct impact on the (Chinese) economy. Donald Trump can be pleased. His policies have brought China to its knees.”

Yet, the US trade deficit with China was largest in over a decade, and the US figures will likely show a higher deficit given the calculations.

The problem with tariffs, and especially a trade war, is that both sides suffer and the “winner” is just the “smaller loser.” So celebrating a “smaller loss” as a win because China had a bigger loss, is still celebrating a US loss.

That’s not exactly a good way to make America great. It’s more like the prog filth pushing some policy that decreases income inequality, with top and bottom losing just the top losing more.

Because time doesn't exist and everything that has ever happened or will ever happened, happened and the exact same moment. Present actions have absolutely no bearing on future actions

China helped fund Bill Clinton's Campaigns. I can well remember Madeline Albright doing a wink and nod at the Chinese spying, saying that She didn't "think that it was good for the World to have a single Super-power". Disgusting.

China has a lot of hungry mouths to feed, but you just knew they'd go Military and start pushing from all the largesse they gained from stealing our research and manufacturing base. Oh well...the bigger they are, the harder they fall. They won't go quietly.

Haha, but Orange Man bad!

We are living through some amazing times now. Looking back at when Hussein was President, I never thought I'd see such winning again. I thought we were gone. Trump has reminded us and the world that the US still calls the shots.
