now, let me preface this by saying I believe Hillary Clinton would have outdone both of them but we will never find out.

Obama was a disaster there is really no other way of saying it. Even nicely. Was having a discussion with a Business Partner of mine and we agreed that W was just as bad for our Country as Obama was. Neither seemed to be competent in what they were doing and both spent like Drunken Sailors.

Thoughts?

I keep wondering what our history would be if Trump were POTUS in 2001 during the attacks on our soil.

It was a strange time for America. I firmly believe GWB did what he had to do facing those times during his first term. He inherited a complete mess from Bill Clinton as far as foreign affairs go and stopping terrorism.

I do not agree with many things GWB did his last term, but do think he did an excellent job his first four years.

Obama helped pull us through a recession. Bush helped cause one.

bush was better than carter and obama. which is not saying much. bush at least did a couple good things taxes and SCOTUS or so we thought at the time about roberts)and tried to partially privatize SS. he failed at the rest and was an open borders globalist.

I'm no W fan, but he wasn't as destructive as Obama.

The worst thing he allowed under his watch was global income reporting from U.S. citizens, and the bullying of non-U.S. banks into participating. Awful.

True, but in a different way. He lied to get us into Iraq due to a personal animus of Saddam (he hated Saddam because Saddam tried to kill his dad). As a result of his Iraq debacle, he created ISIS.

He also created our modern surveillance state. He wrote an E.O. that allowed NSA to spy on all Americans without warrants. He was your typical war hawking establishment Republican.

He also was weak on the border and was an amnesty guy.

I really want to be as fair and objective about things as I can be, but I'm not sure. I don't give high marks to W (Full disclosure, I did vote for him - twice), on the whole, but the few good things do mitigate the widespread damage he did.

He catches flack for an economic explosion that he had nothing to do with the destructive device - that was laid in the Dodd-Frank, mortgage deregulation, and other empty headed, "feel good" legislation that would blow up at a later time. He also get hit with 9/11 (as did we all) early in his term and that just defined his 8 years. His unifying efforts are to be lauded. His strength of leadership, at least early, is a textbook example of leadership under crisis.

Letting Iraq (and, to a degree, Afghanistan) get out of hand like he did, seeming to evaporate during the financial crises, etc., all that is fair criticism and heavily detracts from the good things he did.

But, Obama was a disaster from the beginning and never looked back.
