Incorrect
They are 60 million strong. Now they are called Democrats.

That's because we have the democratic party to talk about. They're basically the same thing except one owns up to it and the other publically denies what they are. Both have the same end goal for America and wish to utilize the same means.

Completely inconsistent.
On one case you have a guy who was not only an active member but a leader. This was back in the days when they actually had power and terrorized, raped, murdered and killed.
On the other case you have a guy who was not a member. It was also in a time when they were already insignificant. The only thing he was accused of was the following quote "I thought those bastards, the KKK were ok until I found out they were Pot Smokers"
Any rational human being can see it is a joke. He even starts it off by calling them bastards...
Remember the joke was made in the same time period 1980s when he prosecuted a KKK members son for murdering a black kid and got him the death penalty.

There is ZERO I repeat ZERO evidence he ever did anything racist in his carrier.
Here's the thing. You've decided that Sessions, who on the whole, rounds out to be an okay guy. I can understand that. But I'm also not willing to dismiss all the accusations because I think it's pretty reasonable to think he probably did and said some things he shouldn't have. Don't agree? Fine, not really my point.
My point is, whatever it is you think of him you've made a reasonable judgement on the whole that this guy is okay. I get that. Especially considering the whole body of work, right?
This other guy (Byrd) who on the whole is also probably a solid guy. He made a mistake in the 50s (thirty years prior to Sessions alleged transgressions) and spend 60 years until he died apologizing and trying to make it right. He also had black support, much like sessions, the NAACP for example. But does he get a chance? HELL NO!
That's what I meant by inconsistency. You're asking people to look at the character of the man in one instance (you brought up his body of work, not me) and scarlet lettering the other.

Whoah, horsey.
Are you really trying to compare an accusation of a racist statement to the actual, verified account of Byrd being a KKK leader?

His policies did more harm to minorities than he could have ever accomplished as a clansman.

Let me help:
You might be a racist if:
You use the n word with an "r" usually preceded by the word effing;
You start your argument about problems in the urban centers with "I have black friends";
You go to the beach and are upset about black families having discovered the area;
You would rather invite David Duke to join your dinner club over the Obama's.
You hear Spanish and immediately think they are undocumented and need to be deported if they can't speak English;
You go to MD Anderson and see a Muslim place of worship in the hospital and think cancer patients and their families and not doctors and nurses;
You go to graduate school and see black and brown and curse affirmative action without a thought to whether it might be merit.
Just off the cuff.

I am, but the truth is I don't really care about either. JS isn't my first choice but whatever.
What I'm really pointing out is the lens at which we examine them both and how the two aren't the same. And at least in my opinion, they should be. It all came from the OP saying that the KKK is irrelevant and the left shouldn't use them in their arguments, which I agree with. I was just pointing out, doesn't that include Byrd? Which is a favorite talking point from the right.

Has your president commented on the victory parade they're having for him in North Carolina in December?

No, probably because nobody gives a shite.
You have your little parades every weekend, doesn't warrant a comment from the president.

why would he comment about a "parade" that will maybe have 10-15 actual KKK members?
what other completely insignificant and unattended events should the President comment on?

Easy to fix...
Get rid of racist affirmative action.
Problem would go away.

I wouldn't invite either.
Both options are deplorable.
I wouldn't invite Obama because his is a Marxist race-baiting POS.
I wouldn't invite Duke because he is a Neo-Nazi racist POS.
Color of their skin has no part of it.

Life is full of unpleasant options ... like our election. It's when tough decisions have to be made, who is it that is coming to dinner?

Aww, he whines about needing a safe Space on Broadway to keep from getting his feelings hurt. ON ewould think at the very least a repudiation of a bunch of white supremacists having a victory parade would be tweeted out. I guess he knows that would piss off a lot of trumpkins though.

Or, like most rational human beings, doesn't give a shite about the KKK or take them seriously.
It would be great if you could join the ranks of rational human beings and stop validating the Klan's existence by giving them exactly what they want, attention.

No, one would not. I can't think of anyone who would expect that, other than sad little people just desperate to try and hang onto that non-existent connection at all cost. Similar to how loons here demanded Obama comment on the black panthers at the Philly polling station b/c they were, again, desperate to find a connection when there was none.
Kind of like what you are doing now.

Trump has already disavowed the KKK, even though that was probably giving them too much credit
the KKK across the entire US is 3-8k
do you think the Pres should ever devote any resources towards such a minute portion of the population?
Posted on 11/21/16 at 11:07 am to SlowFlowPro
Using Toddy's logic, Barack Obama never publicly disavowed NAMBLA, so he and everyone who voted for him are pro-child molestation.
