In related news, there’s a Walker, Texas Ranger remake on HBO where they unnecessarily had to make his brother gay. It’s like they have a list of boxes to check when creating anything now.

Why do they have to REPLACE a current pop culture figure? DO they not have enough creative energy to MAKE a new movie with a new character? They are both lazy and foolish.
It's somewhat laziness, sure, but I think you have to look at the hollywood executives and creative forces the same way you would look at people who have bought into a cult. They have these massively popular intellectual properties that have broad and established appeal, and they see them as vehicles for their message. I also heard this movie is going to make Nazis the villains again. Do you think these Nazis are going to be the same chilling generally evil Nazis we saw in the first movies? Or do you think there will be some very poorly disguised political coding in reference to 'MAGA Nazis'? And I'd be willing to bet at some point Indy is going to have to 'confront his white maleness' in the movie too or some horse shite.

To quote the infamous Norm MacDonald:

"I know what you should call this movie - box office poison!"

Heaven forbid they just create new movies revolving around new characters.. that would require too much creativity. Easier to just take all the male roles...and convert them to female roles, then pat yourself on the back as if you've done something amazing.

This should be Kamala's campaign slogan in '24.

Nope.

Alison Doody circa 1993 (Elsa from Last Crusade)? Put her in a whip and a fedora and I would be interested.

Or Rachel Weisz circa 1999.

Yeah, that isn't what is happening. She's in the movie.

I like her, and I seriously doubt she is gearing up to be the next Indiana Jones. That isn't really her style at all.

DGAF.

Only the original film was worth a damn. All of the sequels sucked.

Won't watch.

It must've slipped by me about the all-black Wonder Years do-over coming.

This world is ridiculous. Everything doesn't have to be if you check any of the boxes of gay, black or female but it seems to be what Hollyweird is focused on.

You certainly can't do an all-female Fast & Furious and make it realistic without women texting and racing and crashing, but in another ten years we probably get it minus them texting.

I’m sure it will be a box office hit.

Stupid thing about the Wonder Years remake is that the original worked by being 20 years after the events being portrayed.

This one is coming about 50 years after the events in question.
