This action is long overdue. If a state is going to issue a driver license to every swinging dick, there must be restrictions on their use. Elections and travel come to mind.

The Department of Homeland Security announced last night that New Yorkers will no longer be eligible for programs such as Global Entry due to the new state law letting undocumented immigrants obtain driver’s licenses. The law limited the ability of DMVs to share information with some federal agencies — most notably Immigration and Customs Enforcement — and DHS is arguing that information is necessary for the programs to work.

Learn to play the game or get run over. It's past time to stop dicking around with these insurgent provinces.

Illegals have no rights. Enter the US through immigration legally then issue them a temporary DL.

starts can do what they want, but didn't mean there went be consequences at the federal level, such as this. The feds are responsible for the safety of are travel. My is no longer don't due diligence to safeguard the integrity of their state identification, so the feds don't have to allow their citizens to use that for air travel. We really need a bill that disallows counting of the votes from states that don't make sufficient pretention against illegals voting in Federal elections either.

Anyone bitching about this, it’s due to REALID act which passed house by >85% and 100-0 in the Senate in 2005.

Correct me if I’m wrong but it’s not the real Id that’s driving this... it’s the fact that the feds use state drivers license databases to background people before approving applications and as part of the giving illegals licenses, they have locked the feds out of their database. This no way for them to verify and cross check info to clear them.

I think this is great and although won’t hit the everyday person, this will impact international business people and those with the money to push back and force change.

There's 50 different ICE agencies and Border Patrol entities? Fascinating.

In the 80s, the Feds forced La to raise the drinking age to 21 under the threat of losing highway funds. The Feds can’t force states to comply, but they can make it painful if they don’t.

The push may have started in the 80s but it wasn’t final until about 1994-1995, as people I know were legal for a few months before the change came through and made them illegal again for another 2+ years.

It’s “state’s” rights.

They’re not denying any state their rights. They’re just saying your state’s method of Identification isn’t stringent enough to meet our national standards anymore due to your lax state standards.

1. I have no problem with a state issuing a driver’s license to any state resident, in order to drive lawfully in the state.

2. I have no problem with the FedGov setting a different standard for different purposes, and therefore declining to accept certain driver’s licenses for those purposes.

3. I see no reason that either should be controversial.

On that link you can go thank Schiff for trampling the constitution and falsely impeaching Trump
