If the economy goes south in the distant or near future, will some people on the board and in the Q thread claim “the deep state” used the fed to do it to hurt trump?

2018-10 = 2008 - yes let’s raise rates and exacerbate the liquidity crunch of the Great Recssion so we could repeat the Great Depression. Not a good idea.

A multitude of things. More things not to do with the Fed, than are to do with the Fed. Regardless of the causes, why in the middle of a historic credit and liquidity crunch would you take more liquidity from the market? This would have likely led to more than just the Lehman collapse and the somewhat forced marriages of some of the major banks. Which then would have infected everyday businesses further.
