Mo Isom's new book is awesome. I just finished it in two sittings in anticipation of giving it to my oldest daughter to read.

I'm so glad Christians believe Jesus came and died for them and somehow changed the objective morality present in the Old Testament, it'd be ashame for them to have to stone their daughters considering the vast majority are not virgins on their wedding days.

EDIT: Out of love, of course.

He took the punishment so that people didn't/don't have to stone their daughters when they sin.

quote:

Romans 3:21 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses[a] and the prophets long ago. 22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.

23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. 25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, 26 for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.

I’m so glad that Democrats can claim that the world changes all the time, hence the 500 genders and the like, but they think that Christianity must remain stagnant and unmoving, practicing the same way as they were 2,000 years ago.

That is exactly why he died.

substitutionary atonement is the heart of the Christian faith. Genesis 15:9-21.

It's a shame when people who assume that they know what they are talking about say things that they don't truly understand.

So wait, is it a good thing that people aren't held responsible for their own actions? I could have sworn that was a big critique of the millennial generation...

You're honestly going to defend the stoning of non-virgins as a reflection of objective morality?

We are held responsible. Ultimately you have to repent of your sins and accept Christ as your savior who bore your punishment. Without doing this, there isn't salvation.

So "being held responsible" merely constitutes repenting? Lets see how you stick to your guns when someone totals your car and offers up a heart felt "I'm really sorry".

Stoning non-virgins is a lot more edgy than posting critiques of such behavior on an internet forum...

Feel free to melt though.

Well, I am a human, so I don't have the patience and compassion that God has. So neither I, nor any person, will always behave the way we are supposed to. But even when I am made at someone for something like that, I ultimately should let go and forgive them for it.

I have no idea if you have read the Bible or have just heard people talk about it, but what I am pretty convinced of is that you do not understand what it is that you read or heard.
I do not need to defend the Scripture...it will stand on its own as it has for 1,000's of years. Neither my take on it nor yours will have any effect on the truth found within it.

II had a business partner that I went to church with extort $100k from a joint venture. I took the loss and forgave him. Won't do business with him or recommend him but its been 5 years and I'm over it.

Here's the deal for you and those like you. You feel like its your duty to come into any thread that mentions Christian values and deliver your edgy comments. Why? What business is it of yours? Does the fact that some people hold Christian values bother you that much?

If its all a farce, Ive wasted a lifetime. If its not, you've wasted an eternity.

I'm not a Democrat, and, quite literally, I made a post laughing at all the genders they're now pushing. Anything else?

But those Muslims stopped hurling gays from rooftops and stoning women eons ago. Amirite?

So insert whatever your identity is for democrat, and swap out the 500 genders with anything that we have today that was not the norm 2,000 years ago.

shite still works.
