I think the conservatives on this board are vastly overestimating the knowledge and competency of the average person, which is something I don't say very often.
People are astoundingly ignorant. If they aren't hit in the face with something, they don't know it exists. Hell, they sometimes still ignore it. So four years ago, they had no idea children were being taken from their parents at the border, because no one was screaming it at them. Now, the media, in an anti-Trump narrative, is screaming it at them. So, now they are (kind of) paying attention.
Roughly half the population of this country at least leans liberal. Do you honestly think that over a hundred million people wake up every day and intentionally lie in order to forward their beliefs, or can we all acknowledge that it's vastly more reasonable that they are being honest in their anger, but were previously ignorant to the issue?
I'm a pretty big fan of Hanlon's Razor: never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

Dems have been trying to call attention to this plight for nearly 2 decades. If not for media bias and Republican obstructionism, especially during the first two years of the Obama administration, we wouldn't be putting chilwen in concentration camps today. Trump is literally Hitler.
