re: Expect litigation if NCAA exerts viewpoint discrimination on jersey messages
still waiting for the SJWs to figure out our mascot was actually named after confederate soldiers from Louisiana.

Nothing racist was mentioned nor intended in my comment. Yes, I want them to “perform” for me, as I would an actor in a play or a singer in a concert. That is what they are there to do - to play football. No college student (athlete or not) has ever walked in my shoes, so their opinions (especially political ones) are ever going to matter to me

The name actually predates the Confederacy by decades.

The “movement” is the apparent removal of one side of an argument and only allowing support for the other.

I’m sure this will go down like the situation dealing with the mayors that allowed ‘Black Lives Matter’ to be painted on their public streets but then when a group requests permits to paint ‘All lives Matter’ or another opposing political view, their office gives the runaround or just refuses to give out any more ‘permits’ and then it gets tied up in litigation for years which by then the point will be moot.....

Liberals only allow their voice to be heard....

It’s not about the stupid patches, it’s the bigger implications of this entire bull shite movement. I don’t see how that is so difficult to understand.

While I agree with your point, the much bigger issue is suppression of free speech. Especially involving the very impressionable youth of our country. If we are presenting messages on backs of jersies, then allow total freedom of speech to thrive in such an environment. Somebody wants MAGA or Blue Lives Matter, then let er rip.

Lester, the OP has a point. IF LSU allows lets say a certain social justice political statement related to the Policing issues, etc. What if one player somewhere says I agree with disbanding the police. Another player on the same team says I support the Police. You see the problem. Lets go another way, lets say a football player is a secular liberal who puts on his shirt I support Abortion rights. Another player, lets say Traditional orthodox Catholic or Traditional Protestant Christian says Abortion is wrong. Does a University favor one over the other. Let go another one. A football player puts on his shirt I support Gun Control. Another player on the same team says I want to put on my shirt I support the 2nd amendment.

IF a University Public, or Private, if it gets any kind of Federal funding, allows one form of speech over the other, there indeed litigation risks because defacto the University is restricting speech and the fact that the Federal Government provides funding to Universities it defacto is party to favoring one form of speech over the other.

The left has been moving towards a Fascist/Marxist society for several years now, ever since 2008 (we all know what happened then).

Institutions of higher learning brainwashing our kids, indoctrinating them into this groupthink of the extreme left (not moderate left any longer). For a degree that is often worthless and now they want hard working Americans to foot the bill of their I'll advised student loans. GFY.
