Never heard of the guy until I listened to him yesterday on JRE. Although it was sometimes an agonizing interview, especially for poor joe who couldn’t get a word in, it piqued my interest and I looked up his podcast. From the little bit I’ve learned of him, He’s a staunch free market capitalist and advocates for it in its truest & intended form. He’s pretty critical of Trump despite voting for him, but after taking it in, it’s at least partly warranted. Especially the gov’t spending part. He argues that he deepened the swamp instead of draining it, which I don’t really agree with and is kinda subjective (Sans the Bolton hire). His 4th of July podcast about the Constitution is fantastic.
Anyway, just wondering if anybody here listens/follows him and their thoughts. I’ve been looking for a good economic podcast to add to my list. I find he’s very “I’m right and everybody that disagrees is an idiot” but I agree with most of his thinking.....or he’s just very convincing and I’m easily persuaded lol

4th of July - Constitution stuff starts at 6:45ish

JRE - dude must have hit a couple rails of coke before but it’s funny listening to joe hopelessly try to even ask a question lol

Schiff is a huge quack. That dude has been saying "the end is this year" every year for decades.

I kinda picked up on that. Idk about quack but Very doomsday-ish. But his argument did make sense. Printing money, inflation, the debt, all the “robbing Peter to pay Paul” stuff, etc. At some point, you’d think the debt will come due. I took it as Maybe he’s wrong, maybe he’s pushing an agenda or maybe he just isn’t right yet. Idk

he's def a quack or simply too negative. Have you seen the video of him being mocked on Fox or fox business right before the Great Recession hit? He nailed that one.

Lol no. Never heard of the guy until yesterday but a lot of what I heard reminded me of Mark Levin who, by all accounts, is far from a quack. Levin is always warning about it being a matter of time before our debt bites us in the arse. And that 4th of July podcast sounded like Levin coulda wrote it himself

Not arguing one way or another for the guy. Just looking to gather some info and decide if he’s worth a listen. He definitely thinks highly of himself though

I like Pete a lot. He’s a good teacher of economics and I like his politics and his humor. He gets a lot of grief about his market calls because the catastrophe he has been predicting hasn’t materialized in the way he has anticipated, which he admits that he has been early if he is right. Despite that, it seems to me the consequences of perpetual credit expansion beyond real savings are present, it’s just occurring in a more protracted way than what he’s predicted, so far.

I agree about the debt, deficit, and spending....

But unfortunately we have bigger short term priorities now

Like saving our country....Trump must be re-elected or it is doomsday

His dad (Irwin Schiff) was a notable (or notorious, depending on your view) tax protester who claimed you didn't have to pay income tax. (I found a copy of his dad's book, it is appropriately beside my porcelain throne)

Just another self-righteous know it all thinking his opinion of someone he doesn’t know is somehow accurate, much less meaningful

He said people and businesses should both have enough money and big enough rainy day fund to totally shut down for 4 months.

JRE goes “man that’s a long rainy day” I almost fell out of my chair

At the rate we're going, he'll be very popular again (already is).

Which is fine. I think I’m mature enough to decipher opinion from fact. I’m not a 20 year old who’s overly impressionable. Take it in, learn what’s good, take opinions with a grain. I don’t deal in absolutes

I understand that but what he was saying was that EVERYONE should have it and if they didn’t then oh well tough shite. Some people can’t save enough money to get a rainy day fund that large
