Even Trump might could win a General Election unless...

The GOP blows the debt ceiling negotiations. Why? Because there will be a recession in the coming months and there is a good chance is won't be mild. It is also going to start later than expected, taking it closer to the mid-terms.
Right now the DEMs have NO way to blame the recession on the GOP... at least not one that even dumb people would buy.
But, if the U.S. gets a debt downgrade, the GOP will get blamed by the media allowing DEMs to blame the GOP.
In short, the GOP should have taken care of the debt issue when Trump was President. But, Trump did not care. For him, it was all about the 8 years he thought he would be President.
The GOP would be smart to take the low hanging fruit ... the $30 Billion Covid funds, and the like, and focus on trying to get a nominee who is electable. They would be able to say they tried to lower the Debt while the DEMs opposed.
But, I suspect they will screw this up and increase the chances that Kamala will be the next President.

Sure they do. They didn't pass the good debt ceiling so recession. The media will help them.

Regardless of the facts, they can and will do just that.
The saddest part is that they know it will work with a great number of voters who are irresponsibly ignorant of facts.
