Putin consolidating power
quote:

Russia's prime minister and its entire government resigned on Wednesday as part of sweeping constitutional changes that could see President Vladimir Putin extend his hold on power.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, a longtime trusted ally of Putin’s, said on Wednesday that the government he heads was resigning to give the president room to carry out changes he wants to make to the constitution.

In all reality this is what Russians want. Putin is their Trump. He has pushed out the rockefellers, rothchilds, etc. He pushed out the world banks. His first priority is the well being of Russians.

His approval ratings are insanely high (even from outside American studies conducted within Russia).

This is probably good for Russia.

"Will Trump do the same as his mentor"?

"Will Trump dissolve the House and Senate in his never ending assault on freedom and the American way?"

"This is why we impeach...to save American values."

The article I read says that this move makes it easier for him to implement changes that will mean less power for his successor as President.

True? Who knows.

But if it IS true, is it possible that Putin is the unicorn of the political world ... an actual “benevolent dictator?”

Probably not
quote:

The surprise announcement came after Putin proposed constitutional amendments that would strengthen the powers of the prime minister and parliament at the expense of the presidency. Handing parliament more power at the expense of presidential authority could signal a power shift that has been long speculated about in Russia.

Putin's critics have suggested that he is considering various scenarios to retain his grip on control after 2024, including the option of becoming prime minister with extended powers. Similarly, in 2008 Putin swapped places with the prime minister to circumvent the constitutional provision banning the same person from serving two consecutive terms.
