I don't think it'll be 80+. Just weeding out all the lazies before the applications ever reach the decision desk

Sorta like military personnel then. It takes a special kind of person to sign up for what you listed but there are enough patriots out there willing to make that sacrifice for two years I'd think. I think most of the people applying are going to be in the 25-40 year-old range.

80 hours a week is hardly anything
That’s not true. That’s 13 hours per day for six days and still working two hours on Sunday. Assuming no WFH, it takes about an hour and a half to wake up, get ready and get to work. And it takes about another hour and a half to eat dinner and get ready for bed. That leaves 8 hours to sleep. So there is zero time to help with your kids’ homework or take them to extracurriculars, or even pick them up from school.
Elon Musk is a great man, but if he expects to staff an organization with people like him it will be a VERY small organization.
Probably he puts those extreme numbers out there, not because he will demand it, but to set a culture.
I’m at a point in life that I could apply, but…

Elon recently attacked WFH, so I don't know where this workforce will come from.
Nobody can afford to work 80 hours a week for no pay unless you're independently wealthy.
I support the mission but this isn't feasible for most people.
I would love to do it, my background would be useful, skill. I can't do it for nothing.
That'll be the roadblock to getting experienced people. No pay.

NBL I've heard working for any Musk company means you're working those kinds of hours. 60-80 is not unheard of. SpaceX especially, they work them hard there.
I’ve heard they are a pain in the arse to work with as well, nickel and diming the shite out of their contractors.

Another somewhat related point, I’m pretty sure this proposed advisory committee needs a charter before it can do anything,
