Not surprising Yang literally stole my CEOs slogan of “Fourth Industrial Revloution” that’s all Marc Benioff preaches at Salesforce.

Above being economic nonsense, money for no effort does nothing to satisfy the human desire to feel accomplished.

It’s a recipe for disaster on many fronts.

Universal income combined with the abolition of welfare/ EBT cards and all the other accoutrements of our modern welfare state etc ?

Oh I didn’t think so . You mean expansion of both and a more powerful state and a more dependent citizen? With the added bonus of being a part of a coalition that favors Cultural Marxism and hates US Constitutionalism ?

Yeah, no thanks.

For true UBI to work, you have to provide the amount of money required by law, and that’s it. No other welfare, etc.

This will require allowing people to starve and die. Our weak society doesn’t have the stomach for this.

Humans take satisfaction in having purpose, and in doing things.

When you give them what they need to survive, without asking them to pay any price, then you leave them with neither.

Our Government already subsidizes lower earners and Minorities with all manner of benefits; from free phones, to scholarships, Gov. Jobs, Stamps, ADHD SSI Disability and Farm payouts to any body that owns a rural acre. Another hand full of cash is no stretch, given the massive unemployment that is coming with the high tech revolution.

As many point out, it is whether there is societal harm in such collective altruism. IMO, there must be QUALIFIERS for subsidization. If weak folk can demand subsistence from those who produce, then those who work and produce have a moral right to demand basic societal responsibility from those who access the collective coffers as well.

If they can pool their wealth with hundreds of other super wealthy people, they can knock themselves out. Otherwise, they can piss off.

I do think UBI is inevitable although I don’t think it becomes necessary for awhile. Does Yang’s plan discuss existing welfare?
