more likely this was Musk's strategy all along. Get them to destroy themselves by divulging how much of the entire platform and its users are fake?

They don't have to divulge. Musks offer was a perfect trap. If they refuse, their stock crashes. If he backs out, their stock crashes. The only way they win is if he buys. There is room to suggest he's negotiating for a lower offer or this was a fishing expedition.

If the end game for Musk it taking Twitter out of the propaganda business for the left, there are numerous ways he can win it.
Buy it.
Have them immolate it rather than sell
Use the due diligence to destroy the company as fraudulent
Etc.
He doesn’t have to purchase it to win depending on what his goals are.

I don't think they can put that toothpaste back in the tube. Investors are likely asking questions already whether Elon purchases or not.

Musk knows something. He's known since the beginning. I don't think the number is 90%, but I think it's waaaaaay over 20% which is more than enough to control the narrative and attempt to manufacture consent.

Musk is trying to renegotiate the price. Tech stocks are getting killed and even TESLA is down and whose shares he is using to finance the acquisition.
Confirming what most of us here already knew that Twitter was riddled with bots
