quote:

As the political tides around Colin Kaepernick are shifting, President Donald Trump is once again weighing in.

And his words may come as a surprise.

In an interview with WJLA’s Scott Thuman on Wednesday, Trump said that he would “absolutely” support Colin Kaepernick’s return to the NFL.

quote:

“If he deserves it, he should,” Trump said when asked if Kaepernick should get another shot in the NFL. “If he has the playing ability. He started off great, and then he didn’t end up very great in terms of a player. He was terrific in his rookie year. I think he was very good in his second year. And then something happened. So his playing wasn’t up to snuff.

“The answer is absolutely I would. As far as kneeling, I would love to see him get another shot. But obviously he has to be able to play well. If he can’t play well, I think it would be very unfair.”

quote:

While Trump leans on the assertion that Kaepernick’s playing ability was the reason he hasn’t been able to find NFL work, Wednesday’s statement is a far cry from “get that son of a bitch off the field.”

Kap wanted to starter money when he was no longer a starter. He got beat out by Blaine Gabbert.

K?

I don't know many who wouldn't support his return to the NFL, if he is good enough to get a gig and wants to follow the team's evaluation.

Seems the only person who doesn't want him to get a legit shot at a return is Kaep.

What did Colin do when he had his special tryout session? Just wondering.

I fully support it, too. I just will have nothing to do for the team that picks him up, and I will gleefully cheer for him to suck, and lose. Maybe he can get a gig with the Redskins and they can rename the team the Equals or maybe the DC Justice League?

What sucks is that Colin had a good story up until he lost his mind (aka the va-jay-jay that corrupted his mind).

He's pretty much said this all along. The Commander has never said Kaepernick shouldn't be given a fair shot. Why do you think this is a gotcha moment?

Love when a far leftist's gotcha thread fails miserably.

Perfect statement. No handouts, just earn it. Kaepernick hasn't earned anything.

Never thought this was some sort of "gotcha" guys

But no, trump has not said this all along.
quote:

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, out, he’s fired. He’s fired!’,” Trump said. “You know, some owner is gonna do that.

“He’s gonna say, ‘That guy disrespects our flag, he’s fired.’ And that owner, they don’t know it. They don’t know it. They’re friends of mine, many of them. They don’t know it. They’ll be the most popular person, for a week. They’ll be the most popular person in this country.”

I don’t see Kap’s names mentioned in the quote you provided.

I’m sure you knew that already

He said essentially the same thing in 2019.

quote:

“If he was good enough, they’d hire him. Why wouldn’t he play if he was good enough?" Trump said.

“I think if he’s good enough, I know the owners – I know (Patriots owner Robert) Kraft, I know so many of the owners – if he’s good enough, they’d sign him.

"I know these people. They would sign him in a heartbeat. They would do anything they can to win games," he added.

“So I’d like to see it. Frankly, I’d love to see Kaepernick come in, if he’s good enough. But I don’t want to see him come in because somebody thinks it’s a good PR move. If he’s good enough, he would be in.”

Trump nailed it. There's a reason he doesn't have an NFL job, and it has way less to do with his political views than many think.

The league figured him out and his game fell way off. I guarantee he'd be on an NFL roster if he had talent to win consistently.
