"In order for evil to exist there has to be a deception and a person to believe that deception."

I've often wondered if the person who pursues politics as a profession is more inclined to fall to the temptations of high stake politics versus a person who later in life enters politics because they feel a civic duty to give back to their city, state or country.

There's no question a disproportionate number of politicians that we would consider to be "career politicians" are lawyers, which makes sense because our elected politicians are setting/drafting the legal policies for societal behavior, international relations and commerce. The fact that many of our elected officials are from the legal field is a good thing, it's a good thing if they're of high moral character and have a demonstrable record of superb integrity.

Unfortunately we've been shown over the past few decades that the high moral character and superb integrity that's required for a moral and just society is sorely lacking in our political leaders. If we were to use the same moral standards set by our politicians to live by we would have exactly the immoral society we have today.

Is society's degradation a reflection of our governmental leaders or have our governmental leaders been systematically corrupted before they have a chance to make a positive influence on society? This is not only a question for elected officials but for high level government bureaucrats too.

Now for the sake of illustrating how our government is displaying an insidious and evil nature I'll introduce the hottest of the hot button issues....abortion. Full disclosure, I'm a Christian and believe 100% that once the spark of life starts (conception) a soul was brought into this physical realm we inhabit, it's how we all came to be. We as a society have allowed our judicial system to determine a child is a child when a pregnant woman decides it's a child. This premise is so whacked out crazy I'm not going to give all the standard reasons why this court decision is absolutely preposterous.

I'm linking the testimony of a young woman who had three abortions and also worked in a Planned Parenthood facility. Her testimony is sorrowful and shocking. Go to approximately the 30:00 mark and listen to a person give an account of hell on earth! Her testimony of working in the abortion clinic lasts from 30:00 to around 45:00. If you don't shed a tear you're dead inside, you also need to cry out to the Lord to restore your charred conscience. If you have the guts and time listen to the whole testimony, I warn you if you still have a conscience you're going to be spiritually shocked at our wretched nature.

I realize this OP is a bit disjointed but I would have to construct a dissertation to encompass everything I'm thinking and feeling right now about the callous and cavalier attitude we as a society have accepted towards mudering our children.

The abomination of abortion.

Another example of how evil requires deception, go to the 50:00 to 57:00 mark in the vid,

The Planned Parenthood deception!

Not inherently, but money and power lead to corruption.

I don’t know if it necessarily attracts them, but those types of people do well and thrive in polictics

I would say yes. At the very least, I can’t imagine a person who isn’t extremely narcissistic ever wanting to become a career politician.

I've often been asked 'Zach, why don't you run for something?' My answer is simple. I'm not good at lying. Lying is an art form that is required of people who want to get votes. I'm not good at it.

The odd thing is that most people can't tell when a politician is a compulsive liar. Or maybe they just don't care.

One thing that is different about Trump is that he didn't get into politics to make money. He had plenty enough to last the rest of his life before he ran for office.

Of course it does. It's dominion over people who really aren't aware of it.

In a healthy culture I think it’s seen as a social obligation, so the right men end up going into politics, despite the tawdry nature of the trade.

I've always said that the fact that someone wants to be a pol is reason enough not to vote for them. And the folks we need wouldn't be a pol for all the $$ in the world.

By and large, politics attracts narcissists.

I think it can attract power driven individuals as well as those who feel entitled to sit among the ruling class.

When hillary stepped down from the senate to seek the presidential nomination Caroline Kennedy immediately sent word to the governor of New York that she would be willing to take over the seat.

What hubris and conceit.

Yes, I think so.

Think of the “politicians” at your work place, are they honest, selfless, looking out for the greater good?

Not in my experience

Who are some of these "right men" who are "pubic servants" in office now?

Yes, if we got rid of them all, they would be replaced by the same kind, just different names with different faces.
