Does the insanity of the covid response ever just really bother you?

Spinoff from Texascuck’s Abbott thread

Abbott is dangling “further action” about Texans’ heads which the media is running with...this virus didn’t just go away because the state re-opened. Is it not insanity to be surprised that people will catch the virus when they are not stuck at home? What am I missing here? Is every spike in positive tests going to panic our leaders and have them dangle shutdowns as an option?

I couldn’t imagine being a small business owner and realizing this could be years of nonsense ahead.

"We the People" need a better way of amplifying our message to our so-called "leaders".

And in this case, that message would be: Stop talking about the damned virus. It's running its course and we have already moved on with our lives.

What you’re missing is that Republican leaders (ahem... Trump) led their kool-aid drinkers to believe this was nothing. And Abbott and his gang were adamantly against masks, until all of the sudden, they weren’t.

All of the protesting will be over in November. At least for 3.5 years.

Heard about the spike. Don't care. Going out and spending my money and keeping our economy alive. Should I get sick, I won't blame Abbott and I won't feel bad about it.

Yes.

It exposed just how fast a huge chunk of society will believe whatever the media and government tell them to.

Say the word "pandemic" and people freak the frick out without ever looking at the actual chances of it killing you, and then beg government for "solutions".

Ok? What does that have to do with Republican Abbott giving the impression that things should go wide open?

Yeah, but at times it seems like it doesn't matter. Because politicians gonna politician.

There needs to be a quick, efficient way for the silent majority to send a message outside of election day.

What you’re missing is that theres no data to support a worsening pandemic.

Thanks for playing kid.

Yes. It’s the silliest thing I’ve ever seen. It’s like they have to prolong the insanity, so their original overreaction doesn’t look so stupid.

After all the pop-up military hospitals and Navy ships sat empty, along with 99 percent of hospitals in the country sitting empty, you think they may have learned something - at least some humility.

But no, I think they would build those MASH hospitals and beg for those ships again in a heartbeat.

Our small retail business is our primary source of income. These last several months have been beyond stressful.

Small example: Our county hasn't mandated face masks and neither has our city. However, there is a FB Karen group recently formed about which businesses are masking up and which ones aren't. We were called out for not requiring masks, instead asking that everyone do what made them most comfortable (employees and customers). So now, our business, along with others, are being bashed on FB for not requiring masks when even our city and county aren't requiring them?!?!?!

The retail and service businesses can cause you to lose your faith in humanity, but these last several months have crushed virtually all the hope I had in people.

There’s absolutely nothing partisan about this thread

Take your nonsense elsewhere
