Or has his star dimmed some after years of retrospect? Can't say I'm fan of the man.

Like all human beings Reagan was not perfect but I remember when he became president he brought a renewed and much needed sense of optimism and pride in the United States. I will forever appreciate his service

He wasn't perfect, and I 100% believe if he was still around, he would have changed his mind a bit on unrestrained international trade, globalism, global orgs, etc.
but he was the right man for the job and made conservatism, which from the 30s to the 70s was powerless in this nation, an ascendant movement again.

Reagan is the GOAT.
And he singlehandedly ended the Cold War.

Think about it this way.
The left will and would NEVER praise Reagan the way they are praising George W. Bush.

He wasn't perfect, but he is a top 5 all-time president.

Reagan's corpse could do a better job than the current administration.
Carter led to Reagan.
Obama led to Trump.
Biden leads to....?
This is why the progressives are hell bent on changing election laws and adding two "states".

Reagan was the greatest POTUS of the 20th Century.
There are statues of the man all over Eastern Europe. He won the Cold War without firing a shot.
Name another POTUS revered worldwide.

I had a friend stationed as a pilot on an aircraft carrier in the Gulf. Reagan wins and he said just like that they were saddled up and flying towards Tehran, he said he was thinking WTF he has not even had a chance to talk to them and we are going to bomb their arses because the hostages are still there.
On the outskirts of Tehran they called them back. |He said when he went below deck to debrief, the next wave of planes....they were taking the nukes off of them.
He said someone must have talked to them "Ya see those blips, those have conventional, the next wave are nukes, and I dont give a fck about hostages, no one fcks with the |US of A and we will nuke you til you glow.
Hostages were let go soon after. And America was back
Soon after inflation dropping, adding half a mil jobs every month. What a great leader.
Democrats wake up every day thinking its April 15th, Republicans....the 4th of July.

He made some errors (who hasn’t) but overall he was exactly what the country needed when it needed it most and left the country on a much greater trajectory and with greater confidence than he found it.
Still the personal favorite president of my lifetime (and I’m a huge Trump guy).

Best President in my lifetime. Some of you young people don’t understand how significant ending the Cold War was.

Two major situations he was met with and resolved like a stud: (1) the economic disaster that was fomented during the Carter administration, and (2) the ongoing dangers and threats of The Cold War, which also by the way caused quite the expensive arms race.
But Reagan managed and resolved those matters, more or less, and ushered in a very prosperous economic period in the place of the Carter period economic crisis. I'm no expert on Reagan, but just those two items are enough to chew on for a good long while.

Reagan was the right man at the right time. He’s among my top 2 favorite presidents. Hands down the best orator, solely in my opinion.

The reigning GOP establishment will recoil in horror at the idea, but Reagan and Trump shared many similarities. As an accomplished Governor of California, Reagan of course was a much more polished and skillful politician than Trump when Reagan sought the nomination.
Yet like Trump, Reagan was a Washington outsider who was uniformly despised by the ruling political and media intelligentsia in Washington and New York. Reagan ran as a political wild card against the reigning Eastern political establishment when Reagan sought the GOP nomination in 1976 and 1980 since Reagan embodied the Goldwater libertarianism of the former Western frontier states.
In 1980, Reagan represented the wing of the GOP that was opposed to globalist organizations (then called “internationalism”) like the Trilateral Commission which had been founded by David Rockefeller. Reagan railed on Padre Bush’s membership in the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations and likewise argued for a return to the Gold Standard.
Yet these issues were summarily taken off the table after Reagan won the GOP nomination. Reagan himself was forced to embrace Rockefeller Republicanism when he named George Bush to be his VP pick.
The lesson here is that the UniParty® exists to perpetuate the Deep State and the Deep State exists to perpetuate our nation’s print-on-demand monetary system. God bless Trump but this is why a vote in this UniParty® charade is a vote for the left or right wing of the CIA.
Trumpism, like Reaganism before it, will ultimately fail. The current crisis continues until we return to sound monetary policies.

“The Trilateralist Commission is international and is intended to be the vehicle for multinational consolidation of the commercial and banking interests by seizing control of the political government of the United States. The Trilateralist Commission represents a skillful, coordinated effort to seize control and consolidate the four centers of power – political, monetary, intellectual, and ecclesiastical.” Barry Goldwater, No Apologies.

He's #2 in my book
But a big trend toward huge deficit spending happened under his belt. Tax burden actually ended up higher when he left than when he started. And he left with the economy in crummy shape.
He was the perfect president on camera. He had the perfect pitch. But the execution is not as most of us conservatives choose to remember.

Also Ronald Reagan — despite his reputation as a war monger — was very circumspect about committing troops to combat. When he did — most notably in Grenada and the Libyan air raid — the operation had very specific and very limited objectives.
The one notable exception was Reagan’s commitment of a Marine garrison to a nebulous peace-keeping role in Lebanon. Yet even here, Reagan had the good sense to realize his mistake and pull the Marines out of harms way after the Marine barracks in Beirut was targeted by a truck-bomb.
