Does anyone think unity is even possible?

I don't see how harmony is achieved ever again. Battle lines are so staunchly drawn and the two sides are so diametrically opposed.
Libs want complete government control and all the comforts of life provided to anyone who doesn't want to earn it at the cost of those who did. Conservatives just want to be left alone and support each other on a community level as they see fit. I see residents of red states electing increasingly conservative governors, and residents of blue states getting more liberal leaders, and more movement in between to live in a state that reflects your beliefs. The ideologies have already become so starkly different and neither side can tolerate being governed at the federal level by the other.
I can't fathom what the reaction is going to be like if Trump is reelected in 2024. Purple haired libs and ANTIFA and BLM will make the January 6th self guided walking tour of the Capitol look like middle school recess. I don't think we're more than 20 years away from some extreme fallout from all this.

No I do not. Human beings just don’t have the staying power. Another 200-400 years and AI will roam the planet as they will have killed all of us by then…many will be killed thinking they were on the ride side of history. AI doesn’t and won’t care.

100 years ago at this time, people were just affording cars on credit and a war had just ended. The war to end all wars right? 100 years before that, we had our first major debates over states vs country. Andrew Jackson to Warren Harding to Joe Biden. That’s how quickly things can change in a blip in total time.

Unity would require compromise. With most aspects in my life I’m tolerant of compromising. I’ll spend time and money doing things my wife wants to do and that’s reciprocal.
I can’t think of anything political I’m willing to compromise on. I’d love for the country to be split. Each voter submits if they want to live in a conservative country or liberal. Split the land accordingly. When liberals start to need money, conservatives can Start buying land from the liberals and they’ll have a little less room to live. The yo yo political nature of America imo ends up with more volatility in the markets as well as the rest of the world not know who’s side we are on consistently.

The things that unified this country - pride, conscious love of the idea of America and Christianity - have been killed in large portions of newer generations and driven out of popular public discourse for the most part. Greed is partly to blame. At some point, all principles went out the window if a profit or bump in a stock margin was at risk.

With DeSantis I think it’s possible if unlikely we could convince actual liberals that the Leftists and communists are our mutual enemy and we need to put aside our differences on tax policy to destroy them, then unity would be possible. It would require a political purge of the Leftists and recognizing the CCP as our most dangerous enemy since Nazi Germany. Other than that, I don’t see any possible avenue.

The fringe left wants no unity and will lie, steal, cheat, beat, burn and kill to get their way. Dare I say, they are demonic. You can never unify with that. You must call it by name and shame it back into the shadows for the next generation to fight.
