A more relevant way of looking at it is that there are a group of people, regardless of income level but all are rich, and they want to prevent anyone outside of that group from being able to get into any kind of position of power, including the ability to provide for themselves.

Yeah, a group of guys wrote it all down, a while back- although I'm not sure many are following their advice these days....Some are even triggered by their ideas and anyone who takes them to heart- and only accept the parts they like, personally....

I've had the exact same question.
What are we trying to do with our society?
Seems like we're just a bunch of people separated with our own different personal goals. Absolutely no overarching goal being pursued, no unifying principles. Just follow your own wants/desires.

Of course. The Founders included it in their formative Documents via "the pursuit of happiness". Albeit, individuals with exceptional abilities will more than likely attain higher levels of relative affluence and happiness.
There are spiritual (happiness being a spiritual condition) pitfalls with relating relative affluence with happiness, but like BHTiger says "money can't buy happiness, but it can buy a boat".
The bigger question and perhaps 'hidden' purpose is that what happens to the (Jesus') "weaker brethren" in a competitive economic/social model wherein the Middle Class becomes affluent while the (defacto established Lower Class) goes off the rails. Who would 'karma' (assuming such exists) hold accountable for this? The 'smart' folk or the ignorant?
I think the answer to the above riddle will be answered soon enough. Second Coming (Vision of Truth) as it were.
Heavy stuff.

I disagree with the second part. IMO the founders set up a clever aristocracy with some democratic features. Even with very limited power, only land owning white men were given the right to participate.

It used to be to maximize individual freedom.
America at its founding was the only system in the world not controlled by a king or emperor and the people had a hand in deciding who the leaders were.
That was American exceptionalism.

The purpose is for politicians to sell the idea that America is a free country, they pass laws and legislation that only profits the elite. Break Americans off a little bit here and there to make them think they are getting something, when in reality they are paying more taxes for that break. The elite are pushing their agenda, and keeping their parties filthy rich along with themselves…that’s the purpose of America and guys like Trump must be stopped at all costs

Trump spent his whole life in the private sector, building stuff for affluent people to spend their money on. He produced what the people wanted. How would put him in the political "elite"? Seems more like that would be antithetical for someone like Trump, who would "you're fired!" a non-productive political grifter like Biden in a NY second.
