I think Musk was naive!!

He's personifying the term "F-U Money".
I guess one way to look at it is that when you are a multi-billionaire, you have 99x more money than any human being could ever rationally spend in a lifetime so you might as well do what floats your boat.
However, another view might be that at that wealth level you are the caretaker of the financial interests of a lot of employees and stockholders so maybe put your seatbelt on and slow down. But I have a feeling a lot of his employees and investors share the same adventurous outlook as him.
At least he's gambling with wealth he created unlike his adversarial bureaucracy that siphons it out of our paychecks or prints it on our debt ledger.

But your right, if Tesla returned to market highs, Musk's net worth would rise to half a trillion dollars.
Do you think Musk, the richest man on Earth, regrets getting into politics?

It's always fun when the board idiots chime in with a hot take.

The arrogance of some of these idiots in full display!
I’m sure they are richer, smarter and more politically astute than Musk

When Space X returns with the 2 astronauts “transitorily” separated from Earth on an international space station, I hope Elon is straddling atop Mechazilla without any pants.

No need to assume the absolute worst and project it on the guy when you really do not know. So negative.
You’re better than that.

4cubbies is obviously jealous and a hypocrite.
Joins in discussion deriding Musk for losing money by sticking to his convictions but earlier states that there’s more to life than material wealth. No shite dumbass- that’s exactly what he’s demonstrating

If customers leave Tesla because he is trying to help save the US economy from collapsing then he probably doesn’t care and neither would I

I like what he’s doing since DOGE was created, but is it really worth pushing your customers away?
I believe Tesla had their first year where they sold fewer vehicles than the prior year in FY24. The political turn may have something to do with it but the fundamentals around the EV market and autos in general have shifted. Interest rates over the last few years have been much higher than for much of Tesla's rise in the second half of the 2010s. Furthermore, competition has increased significantly amongst EVs. The general consumer brands all have offerings. The luxury brands all have offerings.
Finally, the elephant in the room is China is the real growth horizon for all businesses in the West and China has heavily invested in building a domestic EV industry. Frankly, I've watched a lot of YouTube reviews of these Chinese EVs and they're impressive in the virtual test drive at least. He can't compete in China, Western markets are in something bordering on stagflation, and, yes, he has alienated the most likely EV buyer in the United States while flatly becoming persona non grata amongst our trade partners.

What issues did you have with Elon before he became a Trump supporter?

A decent % of SpaceX is Starlink, which has a heavy public consumer base. There’s a risk there, but most people using Starlink also don’t have any other real options
