Do you know anyone effected by the shutdown?

How are they dealing with it? Where are they placing the blame?

I know a few people who are affected. Some that are working without pay and some that are not working.
They place it 100% at the feet of trump.

A relative of mine works for the federal government. They are conservative and realize that, while it sucks, it's better in the long run. They don't blame Trump for what's going on.

I know one. It's tough on him but he supports Trump and is doing what he can to get by.

Of course they'll blame Trump. Just like they didn't blame Obama in 2013.

I know a Marshal and he doesn't seem bothered by it. Biggest complaint is that he can't take vacation because he won't get paid for it upon the government starting back up.
Not sure where he places blame.

Not a single one has blamed anyone, they're a bit too professional to stoop to that level. As federal employees working for ALL the People, they generally try to be as a-political as possible. They are all good, hard working people too.

I’m an essential employee and know a bunch of others.
Blame is all over the board. I blame them all in DC.

My FIL was supposed to retire from the FedGov on 12/31
He doesn't care, he's just waiting to turn his stuff back in to his office. He blames this squarely on the Democrats unwillingness to protect our southern border.

One of the ones I know that isn't working still has to pay for child care. She is pissed to no end at that, apparently her daycare requires them to pay regardless of whether the kid shows. What was especially amusing to me was how upset she was in that, she had arranged for day care during xmas week when her day care was closed,. then she was off and couldn't cancel.
I was just amused about how angry she was. Like screaming mad about it.

I am retired Coast Guard. I won’t get my pension on 1 Feb if shutdown is still on. The active members are already not being paid. I am ok as are most officers and senior enlisted. Older retirees or elders receiving survivor benefits will be struggling as will junior enlisted.
Basically if they are right leaning, they mostly blame Pelosi/Schumer and if they are left leaning, they mostly blame Trump. I am pretty MAGA, but really hate most politicians (except Rand Paul).

Federal Parole officer in new orleans. Hasnt been paid as of friday. Blames trump.

My wife and I are both furloughed contractors. I missed a paycheck, but have been able to gen up some hours this week and last week. Hopefully I can continue to do so.
