I am getting the strong vibe that the answer is no.

Progressives are way to scared of this virus and the rising cases have freaked them out.

I would like it to be yes. And I think it can happen reasonably with some adjustments...but the hysteria is going to make this very difficult.

Public schools?
Doubtful.
But I’m terrible at prognostications.

Besides a brainless few, they're not scared of the virus. They're scared of a Trump second term, and they're willing to sacrifice the education of children and their credibility to allay this fear.

Every school district in my quad-county area here in Mississippi are starting up between August 6-10.

My prediction:

School’s open in some kind of alternate form. About two weeks in a few kids and/or teachers test positive for Covid and schools start shutting down. The domino effect will start once one Governor cancels the entire state. All others will follow suit.

I don’t see it. A LOT of mothers are making a big deal about reopening the schools and complaining that it should be virtual.

If they do open, it will be short lived...the second a student or staff member tests positive the hysteria will spread like wildfire

one county next to us has released its plans to parents. they are going to school on mondays from 10-3..

home the rest of the time. parents are not happy and it will cause a disaster for working and single parents. it is what it is.

The only true thing that will happen is the kids will just get dumber.

Honestly, the less time kids spend in the public school system the better.

Majority of schools will open, may have a few that won't due to some retarded mayor or Governor, but in general most will. The Democrats fricked themselves, because they didn't expect the economy to rebound so quickly and no matter how much fear porn the media tries to sell, people with sense know that this virus is mutating and becoming weaker as it burns through the younger people in the population and we are dealing with a flu like virus now. Some are pushing for a second lockdown to try and kill the economy, but if they do it people are going to turn on them and they know it. I am predicting if a state goes back to phase 1 some politicians will get shot this time.
