I was having a discussion with someone about this today and they said it’s a fact that blacks are given longer sentences for the same crimes as their black counterparts. I assume this to be true but argued it was due to blacks being more likely to have prior arrests/convictions and less likely to be able to afford good legal representation. They argued that blacks represented by public defenders recieved longer sentences than whites represented by public defenders.

I’m curious if anyone has seen stats Showing discrepancies in sentencing between black and white first time defenders represented by public defenders.

I don’t have the desire to go look up the stats because I gotta go back to shitting on the “muh cuhlooshun” retards but that is a bullshite statistic and your assumption is correct.

Is that whites in general or whites who have ever had anything to do with Trump?

because the second group gets anything remotely plausible done to them

Like most things the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Black mothers shouldn’t have to worry about their son getting shot every time he robs a store

Discrepancies in prior convictions and acceptance of plea deals explains almost all of this

Just look at the FBI crime statistics, blacks commit crime at much higher rates

Also accepting plea deals. Let’s say a guy is caught driving drunk with a stolen gun and a crack pipe. He may accept a deal where he just gets the DWI charge but the punishment is harsher than a typical DWI

There is probably also a small amount of systemic bias due to the large amounts of crime in the black community. I won’t deny that. Judge probably looks at a young black criminal and says we need to punish them harsher to end the cycle. I’m not saying it’s right.

It’s similar to choosing a pickup basketball team and picking the one black guy. It’s just a natural shortcut our brain takes when it doesn’t know all the facts

Thanks. I had not thought of this . I am sure the stats show blacks are arrested with multiple charges at a far greater rate than whites.

I think it there is much more prevalent discrimination against young people. 16-25 verses 30-50.

Probably lots of factors. Ask him why then blacks love big government so much if it gets rammed up their a-hole so unfairly?
