DirecTV is offering unprecedented refunds for fans who want to cancel their NFL Sunday Ticket package, if they inform the company that they are doing so due to the recent protests during the national anthem, a source confirmed.

Once the season starts, fans usually cannot cancel their subscriptions, but AT&T, which owns DirecTV, decided to change the policy due to the sensitivity of the issue. The price of the package, which allows fans to get out-of-market games, is about $280

People should do it even if they don't want to - the Reddit streams are GOAT this year and I am sure Periscope is legit as well

Holy shite. AT&T has managed to read the tea leaves better than the NFL.

They were giving it for free for the first year . I bet subscriptions go way down now that some people don't care about the NFL ticket.

So... it was free for us after moving... I feel like i'm losing out by unsubscribing and getting a refund for something I paid nothing for...

Brilliant on AT&T's part.

I'm guessing they'll use this to get the NFL to the negotiation table so they can get a lower rate.

I heard on the radio just today from a Direct Tv representative that their refund policy has not changed and there are no refunds.

Just cancelled... they are even processing cancellations through website chat. Told them it was because of the protest and no questions asked.
