It's more about using services provided by those who do pay taxes. Roads, bridges, traffic lights, police, it all costs money.

I understand some can't work, but there are plenty of able bodied citizens not paying taxes that obviously benefit daily from taxes being paid.

I could even be fine with not paying taxes if you are capable but choose not to have an income. Except alot of those people then take government assistance and cause more taxation on those who work, double dipping.

It's complicated though, obviously people need money to survive. I just think there would be more incentive to earn money if it wasn't so easy to get by on someone else's. It would benefit everyone in the end IMO. Politicians need you to need them though...

We need to quit growing the turnips.

My introduction to turnips was in a stew when I was a kid. You ever bite into a turnip thinking it's a potato?

You will eject it with the quickness.

the bigger issue is the number of people with negative tax rates

That's not the bigger issue.

The bigger issue is what Washington does with the money we send them.

Don't take your eye off the ball.

This is a damn shame. Why doesn't everybody have to pay at least a little something?

Because we give incentives to the poorest to breed, that's why.

That number seems suspiciously low. There's more than just 52 million deadbeats in this country. And some of those people are just retired or rich and that's why they aren't paying income taxes. And some of the people who do pay income taxes only do so because they have a bullshite job that's funded by tax dollars. Its why we need more manufacturing and vocational schools.

Yeah but let's keep going after the middle class and rich.
Les keepnincreasing entitlement programs and hold no one accountable.

I am all for helping those that truly cannot work or disabled. I am tired of helping those who abuse the system or fraud.

That 52 Million number is ridiculous. I would like to know what percentage of that 52 M get a refund check?

i'd imagine if we increased the number of people who paid, they'd start to care a bit more

we need more people caring before we can do anything to stop DC bullshite

Isn't that the goal of conservatives, to pay no taxes?

Just need to add a fed tax on junk food, beer, and tattoos and we'll collect from them that way.

What most think of welfare (EBT, food stamps, supplemental income, etc) is an insignificant drop in the bucket compared to defense spending and social security

Medicaid is no "insignificant drop in the bucket", friend

it's no Medicare, but it's huge

Medicare
SS
Military
Medicaid

these are the only programs that truly matter in the big picture. 3 are direct entitlements/welfare. one is work-fare (and constitutionally-mandated, just not at the level we currently are at)

That's shitty considering I pay out of every check and still had to pay @ refund season. I hate our system.

So if I tell my boss to hold the maximum out of my taxes, and you hold the minimum, you think we should be taxed evenly from what's left over?

I get the max taken out. Keeps what I owe at year's end to a minimum.

True. But it's not really what most people think of when they talk about welfare. People love to get pissed off about obamaphones, EBT, food stamps, welfare queens, etc.

Those aren't the people raping us with medicare and most of the welfare queen types haven't had medical treatment in years.
