I don't do it very often, but I'm considering smoking a bowl. I mean, the uncertainty is killing me,

Maldives, last I heard.

Which is weird, because they kept tracking something flying along its path all the way out past New Zealand. Maybe it broke up in some pieces stayed aloft, but I can’t imagine they would stay up that long.

China’s rogue Long March 5B rocket debris lands in Indian Ocean: report - FoxNews
quote:

The remnants of China’s rogue Long March 5B rocket reportedly landed in the Indian Ocean on Sunday -- late Saturday night Eastern U.S. time -- after its uncontrolled descent was tracked around the world over the past week.

Reuters reported the landing, citing information from the Chinese government.

In addition, U.S. Space Command retweeted a post by Space-Track.org, indicating the rocket debris had landed.

There was no rocket, it was a distraction for the Arizona audit.

Supposedly in the Maldives. There's a lot of shipping routes that go through there, in addition to the island. Should be some footage..

How freaky would it be if it landed at the crash site of that jet liner they never found?

Why the Maldives? They have the lowest average elevation of any country on earth, and the highest point on the islands is only 6 feet. The tidal wave that results from the rocket landing within 50 miles of the archipelago would be sufficient to submerge the islands, and its inhabitants.

This wasn't supposed to happen to the Maldives. They were the poster boy for manmade global warming and were expected to be a casualty of sea-level rise through that route, not man's rocket technology run amuck.

I'm not even sure how to respond to this. Even if it were in one piece, the rocket impact isn't going to affect anyone unless it basically lands directly on them. It is not enough velocity and mass to create a tidal wave. Not even close.

It was tumbling as it went through the atmosphere so it likely split up into pieces anyway.

Why was this even a story? I watched ABC news last night for the first time in 2 years, and this was the main headline. The rocket burnt up and broke up and it wasn’t even a thing. I hate our media.

Because it was a thing. Unlike other countries, China doesn’t have stages for their rockets. It’s just one big arse booster. And then they lost control of it or track of it whatever. Thing is it’s one big chunk of debris instead of multiple pieces. And because of that , much of it made it to the surface instead of actually burning up in the atmosphere.
