I keep hearing the testing stopped the deaths, testing doesnt stop squat, how is it they have such an inter related relationship with China, particularly with travel related to trade, yet such a small number infected or dying???

They had a system in place to deal with a sars-like virus
And their people are very obedient to government guidelines

enough testing kits identify the source of the problem.....which then allows you to remove it early or fence it off from spreading

Exactly. They have dealt with SARS and MERS. Their culture has adapted

i think the WHO approved the German test (as the WHO test) on January 17

January 17 was 2 days after the WHO told the world COVID-19 wasn't transmittable from human-to-human

Hearing reports the gov accessed cellphone gps locations to ensure citizens remained in isolation.
Their isolation was much stricter than ours.
The real question is how much control do we want to give the government here. I don't want to give them that much power.

It's a combination of several things that we do not have:
1) They dealt with MERS in 2015. That prepped them for this. They had a testing protocol in place and their citizens were already accustomed to a lock down. It was completely foreign to us.
2) After dealing with MERS, their government enacted legislation that gives the government instant access to credit card transactions, phone GPS data, car nav gps data...all without judicial scrutiny or subpoenas. This makes tracking people much easier.
3) They also have more government controlled cameras than anyone. The average citizen is on camera 83x per day.
4) All of this coupled with the fact that they are the size of Indiana makes tracking and testing that much easier
On top of all of this, their government has the ability to force a tracking app onto their phones that notifies the government when a quarantined individual leaves their home.
With civil liberties and all...I doubt this ever happens in america.

and therein lies the problem with hindsight bias
we could have stopped the spread had we enacted marital law in about 10 coastal cities back in early January (when we were being told it wasn't transferable from human to human and weeks before we were told stopping travel from China was wrong for stigmatizing people)

That American golf pro that works mainly with S. Koreans had a great quote last year, something to the effect of, "They're extremely coachable." I at that.

They didn’t just test. They tested traced and quarantined.

If you feel perfectly fine, you may want to check up on grandma. Bring her some cookies or dinner. Then again, if you knew you were infected or someone in direct contact with you was, you'd never dream of exposing grandma.
SoKo began heavy testing early on, when it is most effective. Our CDC screwed the pooch, and set us back a critical month.
That month was critical.
How critical?
Mathematically, if an average infected person passed the virus to just 2 people/24hr, over the course of a month hundreds of millions would be infected. Now obviously those are theoretical numbers. Social distancing, geography, etc play a limiting role. But it goes to show the impact which just one month of CDC bureaucracy had on our situation.

Plus their HUMINT intel network hadn’t been rolled up and executed by the CCP almost a decade ago.

All the good it did them....
Their nation is on lockdown like ours, and their case growth rate hasn’t even peaked yet
