quote:

Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis emerged as the leading candidate for the GOP presidential nomination — ahead of former President Donald Trump — in a straw poll of attendees at a Wisconsin GOP convention.

quote:

DeSantis received 38% of the vote; Trump received 32%, followed by former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley at roughly 7%, and a trio of candidates at roughly 2.5%: former Vice President Mike Pence and GOP senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul.

quote:

Asked if they wanted Trump to run for president in 2024, the respondents were split; 43% said yes; 31% said no, and 22% were unsure.

The walls are closing in on Trump, now. The state that just sued a child for Title IX violation doesn't like him.

DeSantis is the future. Trump would be fanfrickingtastic but he will not will again. DeSantis is where we should be in my opinion.

Be interesting to see what the Wisconsin GOP "straw poll" said in 2014.

Trump will easily win 24

Which is why I will say again
Trump 24
DeSantis 28
DeSantis 32

Both would be far better than Dem control but I would rather have DeSantis in there kicking arse and turning things around in 2024 instead of listening to Trump defend his pride for 4 wasted years.

Good.

DeSantis is better than Trump at this point.

Trump's recent outburst about Elon Musk wasn't a good look. Neither is his support of Dr. Oz. He's always servicing his own ego above everything else.

He wasted so much potential while in office, because he is a celebrity-obsessed Boomer.

Nailed it. Trump served his purpose, which was to discredit the media and other institutions. Otherwise, he wasted so much energy that could have been used for good.

His biggest score was the Supreme Court.

While I agree and Gorsuch seems to be more in line with a strict constitutionalist, Barret and Kavanaugh are too similar to John Roberts for me. They wouldn't even consider hearing election challenges in the most corrupt election this nation has ever faced. They also allowed various vaccine mandates to go forward. So while it is considered a win, it wasn't even that much of one. Trump could have done much better than Kavanaugh and Barret.

I mean, I guess if you completely ignore the reality and dynamics of the situation, sure.
