You can smell the fear of the smooth brains that claim DeSantis is part of the establishment

He has said this. I have family that live in the Keys. Been there for 20+ years. He told them that personally. The brutal fight and potential to be done politically, aint worth it. Since he can simply wait 4 years, untarnished

He knows after his term he cant take on Scott or Rubio, so getting nuked by Trump ends him. Hes not going to risk it. Sorry for your loss

This isn’t that simple. He will have been out of the governors office in 2028 two years.

Timing is everything. If I was advising him, I’d tell him to run now.

I think he is taking a wait and see approach. He is very young so he is in no rush.

If he pushes for 2024, then he gets in a very ugly fight with Trump. Even if he wins, it is probable that Trump runs as an Independent. Why deal with all that drama?

Wait until 2028 and then the field is clear. And I bet the public will be ready for a young candidate by then regardless whether Biden or Trump wins.

He also will have time to enjoy his kids while they are young, especially after he ends his governor term in 2026.

Seems like a no brainer to me.

Biden was out of office 4 years. Didn't hurt him at all. In fact it helped him.

I think he could primary either. I don’t think he will; both of them are above the baseline of popularity for an incumbent that they don’t get primary challengers, but he’s more popular than both of them.

Not that I believe you, but do you really think he is going to tell some randos what he's going to do as far as running for president over two years ahead of the election?

@Pechon,

You're making me start to distrust DeSantis. The more I think about it, the more his resume is looking like Jeb! and Dubyas.

Yes, he plagirized Trump's style, but it doesn't make him Trump. He's completely untested by media barrage.

You’re comparing a legitimate candidate to a fraudulent one.

This ^^^ would be the strategy of a smart man. Allow Trump to have his last shot and if it happens fine and if it doesn’t get ready to make your run.

Not sure what you're thinking. He'd be governor until January 2027. He can take a couple of months off and declare in the late Spring of 2027 then start campaigning. It's not like he'd be out of politics for two years. Timing would be perfect.

Elaborate, please. I think we can agree Jeb didn't have the stones to tell Mickey Mouse to frick off.

He stood up to one of the largest media corporations in the nation as well as eloquently shut down the whole "don't say gay" nonsense that gained national attention. Meanwhile, he's shipping illegals to Martha's Vinyard.

I think he's going to be just fine.

Why not push to run with Trump? Why does there have to be division there? Does that narrative really come from them, or is it a media creation? I know it’s not that simple, but being Trumps VP would keep him in the spotlight up until election time and iseems like it’s as unbeatable of a ticket as there is. Seems like the best case for both on the surface. So why not?

No chance. Trump already sees him as a threat and DeSantis wouldn't tie himself to that sinking ship
