Dems negotiating..

Unemployment to be extended through August. Meaning some people will have been on unemployment for 1.5 years.
Now, there would have been no way to hide all the taxable income from unemployment. Enter the new tax deal cut to waive the first $10,200 from income tax (for those on unemployment).
Tax breaks for people on unemployment to pay taxes on the unemployment.
Unintended consequences is that with both houses so tight, every Democrat has great power to negotiate deals as does any flipping Republican. What we will get is the most pork possible.
$10,200

A lot of people throw this around but if your state unemployment benefits are exhausted then you don't qualify for any federal stimulus any longer.
So I don't know who the hell they are extending it for unless you were recently unemployed.

This right here! Most people laid off last year (in LA) for this nonsense ran out of benefits long before the end of the year.

This isn’t how it is working. These extend people that have expired and use Federal funds to keep paying them.

I can’t speak to LA but they have continued for people in GA that normally would have expired. They are getting two Federal payments. One the fixed (current $300) and the other based on income.

I honestly don’t care if the give unemployment until December, just take anything that isn’t covid or stimulus out. Period.

The furniture businesses around here are advertising on TV begging for help. One is offering a sign on bonus.
Cooper tire used to have a stack of applications to replace people going out the door, now they are having job fairs.
Hell I saw a sticker on the window of the local McDonald’s that they were offering a $500 sign on bonus.
