Parents slam Democrats' 'laughable' attempts to rewrite history on school closures after test scores fall

American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten was up in arms after a Wall Street Journal op-ed accused her of "flunking the pandemic," joining the chorus of leftist voices attempting to shift the blame for pandemic-era school closures away from Democrats in charge and onto former President Donald Trump.

Parents Beth Ann Rosica and Rob Kutner along with child educational advocacy non-profit founder Dana Hensley took exception Wednesday on "Fox & Friends First" and slammed the notion that blue states and cities should be let off the hook for slipping test performance among students nationwide.

"I'm not a big Trump supporter, but I can tell you definitively that President Trump, in the summer of 2020, made it very clear that schools should reopen, and that is not what happened in Democratic states," Rosica told host Todd Piro.

Rosica, a Pennsylvania mother of two and a former Democrat, said she did not think she could ever vote for the party again.

"I'll never say never because you never know how things could change, but right now, there is certainly no circumstance under which I would vote for a Democrat."

That seems to be a common theme from my travels….

Give the dems a minute to declare that schools weren’t closed because students were still being remotely programmed… I mean educated. Lunches and breakfasts were still provided via a drive thru line too. So this is obviously disinformation according to snopes and other liberal fact checkers.

Democrats have shot themselves in the dick. Only the most ardent supporters are still fully committed to their stupidity. People like CelticDog and baybeefeetz and Mickey.

Randi Weingarten's letter of here in the WSJ was gaslighting at its finest.

quote:

... But I’d suggest you also listen to the teachers who gave their all to help students and families weather a global pandemic that killed a million Americans and orphaned 200,000 kids.
No teacher I know enjoyed remote and hybrid learning—which, pre-pandemic, was championed by Betsy DeVos. Not one teacher relished teaching art class via Zoom to 40 pupils, 20 of them in a classroom and 20 at home.

While former President Donald Trump and his education secretary, Ms. DeVos, ranted and raved, their successors put the safety measures in place to get reopening done. The American Rescue Plan, which every Republican in Congress voted against, is our vehicle to accelerate learning so kids can recover and thrive.

Rather than divide and distract, politicians of all stripes should focus on what children need, from reading, math and music to mental-health support and pathways to careers and colleges. Teachers deserve our ear and our help, not shame and blame.

their messaging on this has been all over the place. we tried to keep schools shut down, virtual permeant, require masks and vaccines so that we could come back. basically, we tried to make everything perfect and have cases go to 0 so we could come back.

this is again to "just take the damn shot." it's safe, free, and effective and you have to take it to stay employed, but it was also Trump's fault that he rushed it and it didn't work that well.

Nobody was blaming the teachers Randi. I love how she tries to shift the narrative to insinuate that teachers themselves are being blamed. "Quit attacking the teachers!" No article anywhere targets teachers, only state administrators, governors and union leaders.

Lucky for them, the MSM gives them a pass instead of forcing them to view clips of their prior statements.

No, Joe came out and actually said it was Republicans that wanted to defund the police. It’s almost laughable at this point they lie so much.

I'll agree with her here. And the reason for it is because they realized that parents could see the indoctrination, and shitty level of teaching ability these blue haired fricks had.
