Democrats do not want to change immigration laws.

POSTUS is asking congress to change the laws. The Democrats in congress will block any reforms to immigration that POTUS supports because they would rather have the issue to run on during the midterms rather than fix the problem. An issue created under GWB and the liberal 9th Circuit that Obama enforced too, mind you.

It is critical for the Dems to have issues that are emotionally charged and allow their propaganda mass media outlets to whip the electorate into irrational hysteria
The Dems fully understand the axiom that the masses do not reason, but, rather are driven forth by fanaticism and hysteria.

Obama RAN on immigration reform. Said it would be a priority. He came to Washington with big dimocratix majorities in the house and senate, and they did squat about the issue. They could have passed any damn law they pleased, and they dropped it as fast as they could.
They see immigration reform as far too valuable an election issue to ever want to solve it.

Bingo. Anytime a Democrat is asked about immigration reform they trot out hte old platitude of " Comprehensive Immigration Reform" when pressed as to what tat actually means, you get nothing but talking points which actually say and mean nothing.

Why would they want to change the immigration laws? There is no problem to fix as far as they are concerned. The more illegals that come across the border, the better.

There is no new immigration law besides open borders that they would support at this point.
As you said they have been looking for a poll rising issue for the mid terms and may think once again that they have found it.

Please. Dems in Congress wouldn’t bat an eye to spend 30 billion. And if you aren’t convinced by now that Trump means business in equalizing trade with Mexico, you can’t be helped.
If they were really concerned with these kids, they’d have fixed the issue when they had the power to do so, or be willing to deal with the majority in a compromise.
It’s time to stop pretending this is something it isn’t. It’s time to grow up.
