It’s a misery loves company deal.

They want to keep their voters as victims, makes them rely on the federal gov't. This means power and control over their lives. Remember a prosperous economy is horrible for the dem leaders. Look at the stats under BO, entitlements soared.

Democrats fall into one of four categories based on my experience:
1. (~30% of Dems): The insufferable smart-arse prick a-hole whose existence screams "the world would be a better place if you suddenly disappeared". Epitomized by Sen. Adam Shiff.
2. (~60% of Dems): The GOTTT-DAMN YOU F*CKIN' LIVE IN A FANTASTY WORLD AND BELIEVE EVERYTHING MSNBC AND YOUR COLLEGE PROFESSOR TELLS YOU!! Epitomized by The Sky Screamer.
3. (~5% of Dems): The Fossils who are Conservative in every way, yet proudly state, "I voted for Truman and dagnabbit I'm votin' for THIS Democrat, too!" Epitomized by Nancy Pelosi's husband.
4. (~5% of Dems): The super nice, good person that doesn't understand how the real world works. Epitomized by Juan Willams.

I agree with your categorization, but not your percentages. The sky screamers only seem like 60% because they are the most vocal.
I guarantee you the majority of Dems are in the last Juan Williams category. Those are also the most likely to be center left and potentially repulsed by the more extreme categories.
