At a total payout of roughly $2.4M ($30k x 80 passengers), it feels a little light given that it will be determined that their pilots caused the accident.

Offer free rides with Delta for life and see who takes them up on it.

Rough landing, but I’ve had worse.

I’m wondering if the gear locked down, it looks like the right rear collapsed. Pilot didn’t hit square either which no doubt contributed to it.

Honest question. How did you have worse than hitting the ground at that speed, flipping over, and catching on fire?

$30,000 ain't what it used to be. I bet the person who shot that video on their iPhone got more than 30,000 greenbacks.

It may have been wind shear that forced the plane top the ground, but that was a direct hit landing, no coasting at all.....it hit so hard that the body of the plane made contact with the ground immediately.

Yes, on the airlines of your choice at their expense.

How much was offered to the survivors of the Poseidon? Both ended up upside down. I mean, if the insurers are looking for a comp, it’s right there.

From your own link:

A spokesperson for the company says the Delta Care Team is telling passengers that "this gesture has no strings attached and does not affect rights."

This does not align with the narrative in the OP.

Harder landing.

Gear didn’t collapse, caught a downdraft doing touch and goes one night and dropped about 100 feet straight down. Bounced off the runway. Barely managed to land it after bounce.

Seeing the gear fold when the plane touches down made me wonder if it was locked. If it wasn’t there was either a fault in the notice it locked, or the pilot didn’t confirm it was locked before touching down. Or a mechanical failure in the gear. Not knowing the hours on the plane, could well have been that.

I can’t tell about the flaps, too blurry. If they didn’t deploy them sufficiently for whatever reason could be the reason it was coming in hot. Definitely not willing to absolve the pilot of any error there. Just could be other things as well.

I am amazed at what people don’t know.

A friend of mine’s husband works for Delta. Talking to her after this crash led to other topics like the Blackhawk collision. She had never heard that the pilot was on Biden’s staff.

It’s crazy to realize just how much information is controlled.

I saw that, but it looked like the right gear folds at impact, which helped cause the immediate roll. Go frame by frame and it looks like the gear folds before the left even touches.

It doesn’t look at much like shear (not willing to discount that) as it is coming in hot.
