He was interviewed on Fox today about school opening. This mealy mouth hemmed and hawed about safety FIRST! before opening blah blah blah. One example he gave was a child raised by a Grandmother would possibly attend school, take it home, and infect the only care giver of the child. Senator, your example is exactly why the schools should be open. Science tells us (after HE pointed out how much we have learned about the virus) it does not infect kids and kids are not carriers of the virus. In his example the kid would receive the education and the social skills of being back in the classroom with a teacher and his friends, and the Grandmother would not be responsible for logging on a computer and monitoring the child's virtual learning.

No child has ever gotten the virus nor has any child ever given it to someone else? Ever?

Why is a US Senator even remotely involved in or offering his opinion on the opening of local school systems?

This comment proves that you obviously wouldn't recognize "science" if it sat on your face and wiggled. There have been over 11,000 cases in Tennessee alone of patients under the age of 20, and over 3,600 aged 10 and under.

Doesn't infect kids? Are you an idiot?

Didn't he literally put together a bill called SCHOOL to open schools up?

People are naive to think children are just staying at home and having zero contact with others except their caregiver like Grandma.

I guarantee that the vast majority of children who aren't going to school are not following the stay at home mandates.

Even if there was a risk to the Grandparent(s), and the science states there is little to no risk, we can't establish a back to school policy based on the concerns of a relatively small group. We have to do what's best for the many, and that's send kids back to school.

There has always been a small group that may have a higher risk than the norm, and those groups need to do what's best for themselves, and not expect the entire country to suffer just in case.

Neighbor's 3 little kids have had b'day parties, without masks! #shock&horror. One of them had a bouncy house and the street was lined with autos with all the attendees.

Wondering what the 4th kid will have to upstage the siblings????

Another kid in the neighborhood had full blown party w/2 bouncy houses and a clown and all sorts of stuff. Their neighbors on both sides participated and allowed their properties be used for the party. Was a pretty big party especially considering under 10 year olds.

3 deaths, less that 1%. Now do influenza. I'll do it.

Tennessee children flu deaths

8, and that was reported in January. Almost 3x as many as corona. Surely the schools were shut down.

Back to corona, how many of those 3 had asthma or diabetes, or another co-morbidity?

It is scientific fact that the virus is instantly destroyed if it comes with 6 feet of anyonr under 18. I would normally recommend encouraging teenagers to volunteer at hospitals and nursing homes, but then BoarEd would accuse me of being a nazi cannibal sex trafficker

Hey, dumbass, you're the moron who said kids can't get it. Now you're just trying to backtrack and save face. It isn't working. You've already proven with your OP that you're an idiot.

Here...let me remind you what you said...

"it does not infect kids"

Give up. 3,600 kids in Tennessee alone say that you're just making yourself out to be a fool.

Isn't this an issue regardless of what disease the Grandmother might catch?

Yes, that's right. Kids get it, but don't die. That's why Perdue inserted the imaginary Meemaw. Because old people do die at a high percent.

I also think schools should open, but it's because I think it's an acceptable risk. You don't have to be obtuse and make up your own science to want it.
