Daniel Cameron throws his hat into the ring for KY Governor- 2023

Not a huge fan of Cameron, because of his McConnell ties, but he did win some lawsuits against Beshear during Covid, repealing mask mandates and lockdowns. Unfortunately Beshear has benefited from a super majority Reoublican legislature, and has decent approval numbers for a Dem in a blue state, partially because he was a governor during a natural disaster which for some reasons that always seems to help politicians. I think Cameron would he the best shot to beat Beshear at this point which is sad for a deep red state like KY.

Cameron is the first Black man to hold the attorney general position in Kentucky. Many will also recognize his involvement in the Breonna Taylor case.
There had been speculation for quite some time that Cameron would enter the governor's race, but he shied away from publicly committing until now. The attorney general also tweeted a video explaining his reason for joining the race.
Cameron, in the video, explains that conservatives feel a weight of responsibility to bring about change, and he wants to do so in Kentucky. He said Beshear is not uniting Kentucky and the governor does not represent the state's values.

Beshear stalking church goers, vetoing the trans sports bill and not joining the other 26 states protecting the border will be remembered.

If I remember correctly, Bashear won with help from the teachers union. I don’t think that will help him this time around.

Didn’t Beshear win by 5k votes in 2019? Yeah he’s toast in ‘23 especially in this political climate

KY is a weird state. Similar to WV in some ways. It is deep red when it comes to federal elections and state legislature, but has a tendency to elect Dem governors. The teachers union and education lobby is the most powerful force in this state behind the coal industry, but honestly right now may be stronger. The suburbs of Lousiville, Lexington, and Cincinnati still have plenty of Karens as well. Beshear gets a pass as being moderate, mostly because he can't do as much as he would want because he has been stalled by the legislature. I think this race will be closer than people think, but Cameron should be able to heat him.

Louisville, Lexington and Cincy might get him elected again.
Whoever runs against him needs to really go after the Covid restrictions.
They were a year behind Georgia in our last visit. It was asinine.

Northern KY is very conservative. Tom Massie? Heard of him.
Beshear goes down. Hard.
