Damn white people and their *shuffles deck* Dodgeball

Dodgeball isn't just problematic, it's an unethical tool of 'oppression': researchers
quote:
The games children play in schoolyards are famously horrible, if you stop and think about them.
Tag, for example, singles out one poor participant, often the slowest child, as the dehumanized “It,” who runs vainly in pursuit of the quicker ones. Capture the Flag is nakedly militaristic. British Bulldog has obvious jingoistic colonial themes. Red arse, known in America as Butts Up, involves deliberate imposition of corporal punishment on losers.
But none rouse the passions of reform-minded educational progressives quite like dodgeball, the team sport in which players throw balls at each other, trying to hit their competitors and banish them to the sidelines of shame.
quote:
When the Canadian Society for the Study of Education meets in Vancouver at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, a trio of education theorists will argue that dodgeball is not only problematic, in the modern sense of displaying hierarchies of privilege based on athletic skill, but that it is outright “miseducative.”
Dodgeball is not just unhelpful to the development of kind and gentle children who will become decent citizens of a liberal democracy. It is actively harmful to this process, they say.
Dodgeball is a tool of “oppression.”
quote:
Fun for fun’s sake is good, Burns said, but when a teacher is formally telling students rules for a game, fun can also reinforce behavioural patterns, for good or ill. The moral problem with dodgeball, he said, is that it encourages students to aggressively single others out for dominance, and to enjoy that exclusion and dominance as a victory.

When will the weak minded stop making excuses for everything? Not everyone is equal in abilities, intellect, etc... They never will be.

Just think of the type of people are writing all of this stuff and it makes perfect sense that this would be their viewpoint.

You have to pick off the weak kids first. Its solid strategy.

These people obviously never had a proper PE class in school.
It takes a special kind of fricked up to hate on dodgeball.

meh. everyone expects that and it leaves strong kids open (b/c they're focusing on offense and not defense)
leaving weak kids as the last ones standing is always a path to victory

I gather they are fatties, with little to no physical skills and are pissed they were the first ones out of the game
I hope this works out for the Canadians, I like have wimps to our North

No shite. Dodgeball was our reward on Fridays if we didn’t cause any trouble during the rest of the week.

dodgeball is not only problematic, in the modern sense of displaying hierarchies of privilege based on athletic skill, but that it is outright “miseducative.”
So, maybe we should stop giving out grades in school too because I am sure the "hierarchies of privilege" based on academic skill is outright "miseducative" as well...
What in the holy frick is wrong with this world?
development of kind and gentle children who will become decent citizens of a liberal democracy.
Yep, just what this world needs... more pussies raised to whine and cry about life not being fair...
Again, "liberal democracy"... What the frick, over?

We only had 2 black baws in our class and they wrecked shop on dodgeball. They were usually on opposite teams and often the last 2 left. Picking off weak honkeys left and right.

It is physically impossible NOT to smile while playing dodge ball... It doesn't matter if you are getting beaned or doing the beaning...

Amazing, how in my lifetime, trophies morphed from champions, to....
Participation Trophies for ALL, to....
Participation Trophies to those who didn’t participate!
I guess soon the OBGYN will give the just born THE OFFICIAL Participation Trophy for avoiding being aborted?

Hell, even at Our Lady of Mercy, the nuns were the only ones that didn't call it "Smeer the Queer"..
It was no mercy for all..except aiming at girl's legs instead of brutal head shots.
And everyone had a blast.

It's just children having fun, but this miserable loser wants to take that fun away.
He has a moral problem with kids playing schoolyard games, but has no moral problem killing them in the womb.
What a fricking loser.
